My last puff of the nic:eek:demon was shortly before 1pm last Friday, the 20th. So by some counts (including a quit-counter I am using) I've gone 7 days smoke-free. And I must say it gave me a little thrill when the counter clicked over.
However, I want to count it in smoke-free whole days. So I will rack up that first week when I go to bed tonight - cos there is no way I'm having a puff between now and then.
Then i shall start on Week 2. And there have been a few times when I wasn't so sure I'd get that far - but I got through those moments, put them behind me, took a breath of lovely FRESH air, and carried on.
One of the things I've found useful is keeping my hands busy. As a hobby I knit jumpers and hats and stuff. Not bad though I say so myself. I remember an occasion when I worked in a video shop in Fulham, and I was knitting a jumper while watching a vid and this young lad came in. He looked at me - did a double-take and then said emphatically "Men can't knit". I asked him if I was a man - he said yes. I asked him if I was knitting - he said yes. He then said, even more emphatically, "Nah! Men can't knit"! Sometimes people just can't believe their own eyes!! Anyway, I find it good in terms of keeping my hands occupied, and creating something at the same time.
Sorry to ramble on a bit - just celebrating my first almost-a-week!
All best wishes to everyone out there, whatever day you're on.
