It could be because it is the weekend? I found weekends difficult at first. Just grit your teeth and keep going. It will get better and it is so worth it. Tommorow is another day and I bet you feel very different than you do today.

I too found day 4, 5 difficult when I look back.

Get to 1 week and you're well on your way - Good Luck;)

Hey there, first off well done so far. And the fact you came here rather than elsewhere is a good sign. I agree with HAZE to, the weekends are the worst, keeping busy helps if you can, unless you are like me and you have done that have nothing left to do. The depressed feeling I believe is the reduced levels of dopamine released from the lack of nicotine in your system. Exercise can help or some other form feel good, like junk foods for now, snacking on high energy foods I hear are pretty good in the early stages of a quit. I am sure others will have many more tips and reasons for how you are feeling, I am just letting you now what has helped me so far. Stick with it for tomorrow is a new day.

:)

I think hazel has a point about the weekend - for me that's when I could enjoy a smoke. Even now on a Friday after a ling hard week at work I get home and it feels like something is missing, smoking was like my reward. I don't crave cigs as such but still a little bit of a void. It does get easier. As advised, get through today - in the early days I'd change into my pjs very early evening so I wasn't tempted to go to the shop and buy fags!! Do whatever you need to but don't smoke, you'll feel so good in the morning

Please dont, I also remember feeling very down and it is horrible. I wish I could do this quit for you, I hate it when people are struggling and I know it gets better, but for you at the moment, it is not nice and it is hard to think positive when you feel that down. I know that and I can remember how it feels. Just keep posting and I will keep replying if it helps!

That's a great idea. I wish I had had some sleeping pills. Three long slow breaths works really well. Feeling miserable is part of it too. Worse for some than others. Seems its to do with the chemicals rather than the nicotine. It will pass:)

Sleep is a fantastic solution. Works for me to. lol. :D :D :D

I was lucky that one of my symptoms at first was that I couldn't stay awake:D

I wish that was true for me. But it seems to be getting better. I downloaded an app like you recommended Una, I'm going to try it tonight if I can't get to sleep.

Thanks for the advice. :)

Hadenuf, I hope you hang in there and I hope you feel better in the morning, you'll certainly feel proud of yourself and so you should

Molly, one of the ones I use often is the stop smoking one which is just a no smoking sign. Some of them don't work but that one is good.

Hi HadEnuf

So sorry to hear you are struggling a little at the moment.

But please believe me .... (and remember I was the biggest doubter you could have ever met) ..... this is "just a moment" .. in the scheme of things.

In case you haven't read any of my posts, I can vouch for you and say the emotions creep up on you and smack you right in the face! I'm not ashamed to say I have been in tears many times.....

I don't care how tough we think we are (especially us males ) when you cut out the biggest crutch, "friend" (... yeah right!), companion in your life you are left high and dry, alone and fearing what is going to happen to you next.

Please, GIVE IT TIME.

This is a process not an event.

I don't care about the 3 day, 3 week, 3 month etc thing .... this can hit you any time, in my opinion.

But you WILL get over it, you WILL get through it.

I really REALLY thought I wasn't going to make it very early on.

I thought on SO many occasions "why am I even bothering to put myself through this? I didn't even want to stop in the first place - I enjoyed it for God's sake!"

The support group that is this site got me through EVERY time.

I am so impatient, I wanted it all sorted in a few days never mind weeks and months, people kept telling me it gets easier and do you know what?

They were right!

Bet they're all saying "told you so ... ner nerr ner nerr nerrr!" :D

I feel for you at the moment but once you have got through the worst you will look back and not even recognise yourself...honestly!

I feel this now after only "the thick end of 8 weeks", imagine how we will feel in months ... years....

Hang in there

Stay strong and please keep posting

Take care

Greg

Hey fella hang in there. I know what you are going through mate, almost exactly I think! I had a craving that literally nearly took me off my feet, I mean really I nearly fell over man! But I'm just getting through the day. Today is almost done, and before you know it you me, Clarky and Don will be celebrating over a week.

Just remember, that "one" ciggie won't make anything better. It really doesn't. I'm chuffed at how well you are doin man. Keep it up, one day at a time!

Cheers

Ollie.

Good advice and I am so pleased you are all supporting each other as I have said. I know that will help you all get through the early tough days.

Thank you for posting this. This is exactly what I am feeling. My greatest fear is not wanting it enough. It helps to know I am not alone with these thoughts.
