The Longest 4weeks of my Life!

Hi Everyone.Today Ive hit the 4week milestone and am really amazed that I have got this far.The Time has gone so slow it has been like every day has been twice as long as normal.Maybe its because each day is no longer 'cut up' into peices by my rolling cigarettes and smoking them (eg 10 cigs @5mins each equals 50mins or if someone smokes 20 then thats 1hour and 40mins 'lost') I dont know or maybe its because I have 'increased' my lifespan : ) -who knows? Its been a roller coaster ride for me and I love the term"take it one day at a time" as nothing could be truer as some days have been easy and others hell. The cravings I had have altered to an 'itch' I cant scratch,an empty/hollow ache that cant be satisfied with food but I DONT WANT TO SMOKE. Im going to stick with this ride as every day brings a different veiw.It has taken 4weeks for my lungs to start to cleanse that just shows how much I had damaged the cilia(little hairs that remove debris from the lungs) I have just started moving clear mucus with little grey and fawn specks in.Its all added resolve and determination to stick with this quit. I wish everyone all the best with their quits.Bye for now.Sue x

The first mo th of my quit felt like a year just dragged. I'm still coughing up rubbish but that only started about a month ago

Mornings. The first hour of each day lasts 3 I swear. I used to sit there and roll my fags up for the morning.

Not thought about that until now. Well done Soo.

I totally agree with everyone about time moving slowly! This has got to be the longest 9 weeks of my life so far.

Not that I'd wish my life away or anything, but I'll be relieved when I'm at a less turbulent stage of the quit.

Mind... what Soosan said about the lungs clearing... After 9 weeks I haven't coughed anything up at all - is this abnormal? Should I be worried?

No Lauren you shouldnt be worried I never had that clearing out my lungs either! You are doing brilliant and I for one KNOW that you will remain smoke free!:)

Funny about the time dragging though isn't it? It doesn't drag now though, flying by I say flying by!:)

Thanks Haze. It's right what you say that this stopping smoking is all confusing and strange... I never thought I'd be worried that I WASN'T coughing up gunk :D

Uh huh, Oh yeah I'm there too!

yep time dragging on the one hand. on the other it just doesn't seem possible that i haven't smoked for 29 days, and will reach 1 month smoke free tomorrow!!!!! it just can't be.

going through quite a bit of craving the past few days since i came off of champix, but am more determined than ever to make it through. I do Not want to be a smoker any longer.

I want my freedom! And in my personal life, family etc excluded, I don't much care what it costs me either.

lol So far for me the (rather unfortunate) magic trick has been bananas. I have tried substituting them for just about anything else, including my other favourite fruits, water, veggies cooked or otherwise, plain lettuce dipped or not in cottage cheese, but cannot find a satisfactory substitute for bananas. EVERY time I wake up at night (which is happening a lot this past week) I have to have 2 or 3 bananas instead of a cigarette before I can go back to sleep. So I can safely say I have officially gone bananas! lol

I haven't coughed up any gunk either so there are quite a few of us.

Just goes to show Una no rhyme nor reason to quitting!
