Afternoon peeps,
It's just dawned on me that I missed my 1 year anniversary without a cigarette, it turns out I am only 5 days away from 13 months.
Happy days and smiley faces !!

Massive thumbs up to you FrancoB. 1 year smoke free has to be one of your best achievements considering it's one of the hardest drugs to quit.
It couldn't of happened to a nicer poster.
Do pop back occasionally mate to give us updates on your progress otherwise i will miss ya.
Brilliant!
Well done Francob1 You must be really proud and happy! Great achievement!
Well done on the year..inspiration for us early quiters...only 361 days to go for me
Brilliant Francob...I knew you could do it after only a few months. You just changed your outlook on smoking and there was no going back. Congratulations and save me a drink as I'll be entering the penthouse myself at the end of October I think. xxxx

Thanks everyone, the first 3-4 months were certainly a hard slog but it really does improve every day after that.
It is one of my greatest achievements because like many smokers I really didn't think I would be able to quit especially after numerous failed attempts, the turning point for me was that I just wanted to quit, I just knew and that was it. Other times my attempts were half hearted and I would fold within a week.
It just shows that once you get your mind right it makes quitting that much easier.
I would like to add that even a year down the line and with a fresh mind-set the odd feeling of smoking still enters my mind, I am not sure if that ever leaves you, for me it was a few weeks ago on my first beach holiday since I quit, the thought of smoking with my beer and book certainly entered my mind more than once however I just knew those feelings would pass. It is just a gentle reminder that we do need to be on our guard.
Quitting smoking has certainly fuelled the fire for me personally, I have been suffering with depression and anxiety, oddly enough since quitting. (Not yet sure if there is a link, I doubt it) but my point is that my new mind-set means that I can face these challenges with a positive outlook and with the right amount of support, exercise and therapy I know I can get better.
Thanks for listening ladies & gents, I will certainly pop back every now and then to offer support and advice, despite my sometimes controversial views this forum really was the driving force for my quit, particular in the early days.

Sent you a pm mate.
WAY TO GO FRANCOB
Its great to see another one reaching the penthouse and the fact you hadnt even noticed what day you achieved it shows that you can live a smoke free life without even thinking about smoking
Great to see you in the Penthouse Francob - have always enjoyed your posts and you're so correct in saying that about getting your mind right.
