I had a (poor) attempt to stop smoking a few months ago, where I didn't even manage to get through day one, but hoping for a better experience this time.
Last time I still had cigarettes, lighters etc around the house, so I don't know how I even hoped I would manage it.
This time, I've got rid of any remaining cigarettes and moved any lighters out of the way. I'm finding I want it more and am more determined than last time.
So, my first aim is to reach tomorrow morning having still not had a cigarette.
Thinking of the financial savings, the health benefits, the improved energy and confidence... It's all helping!!

hi there jd, good luck this time. I think it can sometimes take a few attempts before it sticks. Just take it minute by minute and dont freak yourself out by looking too far ahead.
stay strong and keep talking. some top peoples on here.
as Magic says just focus on each day at the moment your smoking head is craving a ciggy and trying its best to tempt you back with thoughts of one wont hurt
you just need to keep saying no i dont smoke anymore and find ways to distract your mind till the craving passes
it does get easier the furthery along you go reading and posting on here will help with the distraction some people start up an old hobby or a new one just to keep distracted i found playing online games helped me
Well, it's 5pm now on the first day and things still going well! Going to watch some football tonight, and having a couple of drinks so, like the last time I tried, i'm not exactly making it easy for myself but hopefully i'll be able to manage it.

Keep doing the things you love, so not chage your routine mate you make it harder, why shold you stop having a pint watching footie ? do it just dont stick a fag in your gob lol its hard to start with ( beleive me ) 5 weeks in im still drinking my wine beer well anything with a volume on a weekend but no temotation for fags now even with a smoker around me, its just learning....
Sorry jd but I didn't like the way you judge yourself.... You don't deserve for any of your quits (not attempt, but quits) to be judged that way.
I think each and every quit is different and unique. Our reasons are different. Our lives are different. We are different people.
Just like that this quit of yours can never be a bad quit. You've quit smoking. That's what counts. Right now you're not a smoker.
Instead you are a winner.
And what do you win?
Every time I feel like smoking I go to Google and do a search for images of cancer. I sit here staring at them, reading the stories of those people, hearing their voices, seeing their pain.... and I know that every day, every hour that I don't smoke is a victory.
