I'm well into week three of being a happy non smoker. It's the bank holiday weekend now and I'm a little apprehensive as there will be temptation in the next few days.
I've been lucky in that I've not had to be around many other smokers since I stopped smoking. This weekend however I'll be out for a friends birthday party, and also a bbq the following day. Alcohol will be flowing and there will be lots of smokers, I will really need to be on my guard. Must remember NOPE (not one puff ever), otherwise the past 17 days hard work will be wasted.
I've been inspired by a lot of fellow quitters on this forum, such as ShelleyinStoke, and Angrybear, I want to be where they are.
I will make it through this bank holiday weekend as a non smoker, if I have to I'll go home early from the night out. Good luck everyone and enjoy the long weekend.

Good luck Sam, just keep thinking of the reasond why you wanted to quit whenever you get tempted(that's if you do) There is a quote on here that I always refer to when I have had a moment of weakness, and that is if smoking was so great, why did you want to give up in the first place. I find that is so true. I hope you have a great bank holiday weekend and I am sure you will see it through without smoking, you have done so well up to now
DGee - it's an extended weekend, where we don't go to work on Monday!
Historically for bank closures, first legislated for in the 1800s, now covered by the Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971 in the UK.
So basically, a public holiday. I don't think you have too many of those in the US?

Well, we have quite a number of holidays, which now all fall on a Monday so we get three day weekends, but none of them have much to do with banks, except Christmas, which is very beneficial to banks.
