I'm currently on vacation in USA and I just wanted to share my experiences & to flag up a danger point..
I'm heading towards end 3rd month and when I am at home I'd reached a point where I rarely thought about smoking - only at moments of extreme stress...
I've been here a week now and I am find it SO HARD not to succumb to temptation...there seem to be loads of people smoking here and there are still places u can smoke indoors... It has been a really nasty shock and I'm really p**t off that my brain is doing this to me...can't possibly be anything to do with nicotine after three months!!
I've been trying to work out why I'm finding it so difficult when I thought I'd cracked it pretty much...think its to do with doing very little during the day i.e. lying by pool where loads are smoking...and spending a lot more time in bars!!! When I'm at home if I start to think about cigarettes I just get busy or make a coffee - which isn't possible on holiday... And there's knowing that three floors below me is a 24/7shop which sells my brand!?!?!
Holidays are supposed to be a time without stress - but this is a very strange holiday - a whole other subject - with HUGE stress levels which isn't helping...
Guess what I'm saying is, BEWARE when you're on holidays, relaxed, drinking etc when the monster can suddenly rear its ugly head again...

Stay strong and focused. Are you near a beach? Try RUNNING into the sea and throwing yourself onto the waves whenever you get a really bad crave.
Did you take any AC books with you (or something similar)? If not, get your lazy ass down to the shops and buy one - that is your reading material for the rest of your holiday ok? Re-enforce this quite and get your head back where it was. I fear the sun is feeding your nicodemon and you need to squash him right back down!!!
You are doing so well and I'm keeping your seat warm in Room 4-5 so don't you dare let me down!!!!!
You totally did the right thing posting here, hopefully the time difference won't stop some insomniac answering if you need us.
You have access to the internet (Doh! obviously!) so visit the sites in my sig, get reading, reading, reading! (*copywrite John 2008)
PS/ ENJOY THE REST OF YOUR HOLIDAY AND REMEMBER YOU COULDN'T HAVE AFFORDED THIS IF YOU WERE STILL SMOKING!!!!!
Stay strong Nicky, I have always thought that Holidays where going tobe tough as its the one thing we haven't dealt with yet. Almost Every other situation we have found way of dealing with our triggers.
Bet you felt cool on the flight over, watching all the smokers get twitchy
Just make sure your not one of them on the way back.
I experienced holiday cravings this last May Holiday, Didn't help that there were what seemed to be chain smokers all around me, I almost considered begging one of someone at one stage, actaully went though quite a rough patch after and have/am only just got/getting over it really.
i've been strong so far and have no intention of the little bas***d getting hold of me again!! My daughter's boyfriend has just quit, encouraged by fact I'd quit, and it's him we're visiting so cannot let side down!!
Enjoy your self. When i quit last year thats were i had my first slip on holiday no ban in spain and my oh caved by the third day. Have a great time wish i was with you. linda xxxxxxx Ps be strong you will be sooooooo proud of yourself.
Umm well, Linda, First thing I did was start smoking again (actually the night before...and i went swimming in the c****...and i got something stuck in my foot that blew up and went all red on the way to Majorca.
So I've been filling my time since being married with farce and folly!
Went to Paris on my own and in Algeria in the heat now, so I feel like I never got married!!
All that said, I stopped again just over a week ago and seem to be fine up to now?..
So how am I doing? Sort of mixed, you might say!!:D:mad::)
