This is my first post. I smoked for almost 30 years and did stop once about 10 years ago.
I'm on my 17th day now and feeling great! I still reach for a smoke here and there out of habit but I'm doing great as far as the cravings go.
I started with the 21 mg patch but only wore it for 13 days and then switched to the 14 mg from there.
I read to not keep any smokes or lighter around in case of temptation but what I have found that has helped me is to carry a smoke around without a lighter. The habit of holding or putting a smoke in my mouth has been the hardest thing to overcome.
I have not once even considered lighting the smoke and I now find myself carrying it less everyday without thinking as much about it.
I drink coffee and beer and I'm surprised how well I've done considering. The mornings are not as bad as I thought they would be. The evenings can be tough and after eating. Ichew gum instead of lighting up and it really seems to help.
Sorry for the long post but what can I say, I'm proud of myself!!

Blimey, there's no way I could do that! Fair play if you can do it but, well, blimey!
As you are using NRT (as am I), wouldn't an inhalator be a better option? Just a suggestion, loike...
As I'm sure you know already, you will get tons of support from this forum so read loads and get stuck in. Welcome!
Thanks so much for your reply. I make it a point to read everyday to keep things fresh in my mind. Helps to keep me motivated as well.
I figured why not join and post too.
I thought about the fake cigg thing but I really dont want to inhale anything even if it is just vapor.
I'm extremely determined to make it this time. I also realize more than ever that you have to have your head right to do this. If you don't I feel it won't work and you will smoke.

Aye sb great to hear you are doing so well.
I totally agree, get the head right and you are on a winner.
Just little things like saying "I will do this" instead of "I can do this"
Looks as if you have the right frame of mind and you are going to be around a long time. Welcome fellow non smoker
17 days is great and you are sounding realy positive. I quit once for 2 years using Wrigleys chewing gum lol. Did the trick and kept my mouth occupied.
Can't stand chewing gum now so am using lozenges.
Keep doing what your doing, it's obviously working for you and that's all that matters
