Another bad day. Cravings just don't seem to have reduced much at all. Really hard to keep going as it is so disappointing. Really need some sign it is working - ie. am getting free of the monsters.

Hi Ivy,

You're doing great with your quit. Im on day 8 and yesterday and today have been a total struggle so far as well.

I have no urge to smoke at all, but i seem to have a black cloud hanging over me at the minute that I cant shift.

We cant give in though, surely in a couple of days we will be feeling better??

Alone we are not. Such a boost to be able to talk to people who are feeling the same, but also have the same resolve in kicking this addiction.

I can not express my gratitude enough for this forum and all you guys for the constant and unrelenting support.

By the way Day 8 here and it is definately starting to appear that wk2 is going to be hard, think I may be on here a great deal. :)

I know what you mean about the new facebook, im addicted too but its not a bad thing if we all manage to stay smoke free

I honestly dont think people (those who have never smoked/or those who have never tried to stop ie my other half ) actually realise how much of an ongoing battle this is.

At least everyone on here is in the same boat.

... but I think Im right in the head this time and ready to not give in.

:D "right in the head"??? I suppose this is in comparison to us all being "not right in the head" for smoking in the first place lol!

Well done on reaching Day 9.

January 30th, 2012

Today is day 18 for me. My last cigarette was at like 9am on 1-30-2012. I was on the way to my first hypnotherapy session. I have had three of them now. I do have to say I feel they helped me be able to relax and focus on the reasons I was quitting. This has been very hard though. I am still in a bit of a fog though sometimes. I have good days and bad ones. I was a smoker for like 20 years. I am 39 and will be 40 in May. I have a 7 year old girl and 9 year old boy and they motivated me to quit as well as my wonderful Hubby. Best wishes to you all.

Nicotine

Funny how this drug is legal to me..... and heroin is not ?!? It was more a part of me than my own arm. When I see folks smoking now - I actually feel sorry for them because I know what they will have to go through to break free. Hang in there everyone and thank you for the support.

Agree. When you understand the addiction side to smoking, it does seem similar to an addiction to heroin. Why were fags even invented and why can we just buy them willy nilly? Its sad that teenagers think its grown up to smoke then they get trapped, like I did. Its awful. People coming into schools and showing you those containers with the cotton wool and black tar going into them to represent your lungs when you smoke doesn't help. It didn't make me not want to smoke. They should have people who are damaged by smoking going into schools to make us not want to end up like that, and someone to explain the addiction and the trap you set yourself by smoking. Maybe if I had that I wouldn't have become a smoker for years.

I hope if I ever have kids they don't start to smoke. Its not a cool or glamourous thing to do. It is poison and it is slow form of suicide. The chemicals and drug you are breathing into your body, you might aswell inject heroin. Its probably just as addictive.

We don't get ANYTHING from smoking. Not pleasure, not relaxation, not confidence, nothing. Not even a 'hit'. Its such a pointless addiction I don't know why I ever did it. If I knew all of this when I was 14, I would never have started. Oh, and you get brown gum diseased teeth eventually, a cough which never leaves, when you get a cold you're chest is agony, the list of the downsides are endless whilst the upsides are zero!

Yes, I agree with this too. I don't understand a ban on smoking indoors anywhere without actually makng it illegal to smoke nicotine at all.

Day 11 for me today and not really any easier yet.

Hi Ivy,

I was going thru the "crazies" at my day 12. This is where you have to mentally work it out, Personally for me it was really hard because my body went thru a weird hormone change, I was crying, aggressive and just wanted to feel normal. Try taking more B & D vitamins, it boosts u up. I feel for you, I understand how uncomfortable it feels. Hang in there;)
