Aww Ian - just hang in there - just a bit at a time. I have a couple of rubbish days in week 2 as well. Look after yourself though. I think at this stage we tend to blame everything on stopping smoking and forget we can pick up things just the same as anyone else and since we have a body full of healing tissues may even be a bit more vulnerable.
I had to have 3 days off in week 2! Felt rubbish. Tired and achey and the worst cold and chest infection I had ever had I heard your immune system goes into shutdown after you quit after having to work so hard whilst smoking. I hope you feel better soon. I have to say, I have never felt so healthy now, it does get better. Keep on quitting.
Ian, you are doing really well so far. Make sure you look after yourself, your body is just trying to get used to clean fresh air rather than you inhaling all those 4,000 chemicals. It will get better and you will feel great!
It's pretty normal the way you are feeling I was told that it's all the toxins coming out of your body and your body has to adjust to it all. It will get better each day I will be honest I felt like sh*t for about 3 weeks after that I started to feel like my old self. You look after yourself and don't let the nicodemon win chin up hope you start feeling better soon.
I am now on day nine of my quit and for the first time i am feeling really ill.
I have a tight chest, feel nausea and like i have the flu coming on or something - Is this to be expected?
The first week was quite easy, but it's as though that nicodemon has been saving up all the rubbish to throw at me in one fell swoop.
Need a wee bit of encouragement here - Thank you
Peace
Ian
Hi Ian
First well done you on day 9 that's great just hang in there
Sorry you're feeling ill though, but sorry to say this is quite normal for us quitters to feel these flu type symptoms, but they won't last for long Promise
If you're really worried go see your Dr for advice, but it sounds just like a lot of us get
I think the others have pretty much said it all. When you think of what we put our bodies through it's not surprising there's some pretty major adjustments when you stop. And as has been said, it could be just a regular infection, so do consult a dr if it continues or concerns you. Really well done on getting to day 9 - double figures are just around the corner.
Sorry to hear you are feeling so poorly at the moment. I think everbody has given you good advice so you don't need me to repeat it. Just wanted you to know we're all behind you.
Hi Ian, think it's called quitter flu, I had it too, it sucks yep! But it does fade and I can tell you that after a while you start feeling great, hang in there Ian
Decided to have a little nap after i last posted, which turned into a fully fledged sleep.
I still feel rotten, but not so rotten after reading the wonderful messages of support here.
There is no way i am going back to smoking, so cravings, flu symptoms, heavy chestiness can all do what they have to do because i am never taking another puff.
Thank you all again - Boy when i see the loving natures of so many people i just get so tearful and emotional.
I send vibes of peace, strength and healing to everyone.
