Hi, i was like that until about day 10. it will pass, pain in the neck at the time though

I had that, so frustrating. Try having a bath to chill out or invest in a pair of specs with eyes on. :D

Oh good at least I'm not on my own with it then. Thanks guys. Sounds like a good idea to get some glasses. Either that or match sticks. When we set off on the non smoking journey we are so in aware of the trials and tribulations we about to over come.

I know, I didnt realise the impact smoking has had on my body. I just thought you quit and you get a few cravings. Didnt realise insomnia, weight gain and crazy brain were going to follow.

Your not alone, we are all in this together! :D

Crazy brain, definitely. I'm really accident prone, breaking things, falling out of doors etc and intermittently vaguely hysterical and homicidal or very emotional. Turning into an Emo, as my kids would say. Oh yeah, and fat!

ha! I know what you mean, I get hysterical and start laughing like a crazy for no reason and another thing was I could not talk properly the other day.

Not sure if its because I have been intensely sucking on boiled sweets that I have lost all movement in my mouth.

Im concerned that this maybe the real me coming out and I am as mad as a hatter??

Ha Ha Ha

Im concerned that this maybe the real me coming out too.

For some really strange reason ive started with a very bad chesty cough this morning. A proper rattling cough, a cough that is ten times worse that when i smoked.

Im wondering if my body is rejecting the crap ive been putting in all these years.

God if i can clear it all ill be running a minute mile by tea time....

Wonder how our mate Gary Capitan is doing???

Hope he's doing ok.....

I havent had a cough yet, its just the insomnia and constant eating I cant get over. Hmmm dont mention tea time, im off to raid the fridge! :)

Yes I had trouble sleeping up until last thursday, which was day 7. I'm now sleeping properly so I'm happy. Get yourself down to savers, get a pack of natrasleep herbal tablets, have a hot relaxing bath with something lavender in it, have a nice hot chocci or horlicks (I chose hot choc as I hate horlicks) take the natrasleep herbals, have a chill out for an hour and then go to bed. It worked for me!! My body was crying out for sleep and this really worked to relax me and help me sleep.

Now I realise you're a man, and my routine might seem a bit girly but hey if it worked for me ... Lol

Oh and take a look at the link hellsbelles posted me in the Your Reasons sub forum, I asked about changes of the body and she posted me a link. It tells you how you're body heals and the lungs actually do cough all the crap up for a couple of weeks after you've stopped. Its just their way of healing

One thing you should do is cut down or cut out any type of caffeine for a while.

Apparently, smokers can metabolise caffeine twice as fast as non smokers.

When you quit, this means you stop using it up as fast which can result in a caffeine high and that will disrupt your sleep patterns.

You can expect it to last up to a month. Any more than that and you might want to get checked by a doctor just to be safe.

Try and replace all caffeine with non caffeine drinks and at night the old advice about a nice warm bath and a cup of cocoa or hot chocolate really does help.

I have actually been and bought some decaf tetley at asda tonight after work. They taste the same as normal tea and they're on offer for £2 at the min. So the only coffees I have now are on a morning, then 2 at work as I drink water at lunchtime. Then I've quit coca cola too. God I'm gonna be so healthy lol

Oh btw i have been sleeping really really well for the last three nights, i found that kalms sleep work like they say on the box. take them an hour before bedtime. they are not drowsy at all and you work up refreshed in the morning. i would recommend then to all who's sleep pattern is wishy washy.;)

it is clicking in to place slowly but surely, the evenings and especially the weekends are the toughest for me as i used to smoke loads saturday and sundays if iwas bored. It certainly takes some beating this smoking lark doesnt it.

I remember when I tried to quit once using patches that I had really disturbing dreams . . very vivid.

Now I'm going cold turkey I found that I was really sleepy the first couple of day's as seems to be how it goes when the stimulant effect of nicotine is going . . now I'm going through the restless night phase . . thanks for the heads up on Kalms I'll give 'em a go. Jo

I'm on the 16 hour patches, take the patch off about an hour before I wanna go to bed lol so havnt had the dreams. My cousin is on champix and is hallucinating during the night. A man was sat on her bed on thursday night apparently!! Would scare the crap out of me!!

I actually didn't use kalms. I used natrasleep, they were 2.99 from savers and worked better than the nytol ones :) x

Hi

I to am using the patches and having the nightmares, but, call me sadistic, I kinda enjoy them. Could do without waking up with them though, sleep is a good thing, when you can get it.

hi all, with me going cold turkey for the last 13 days, i havent had the nightmares, just waking up 4 maybe 5 times a night. really dont know what for. no craving, no dreams, nothing on my mind, just like something spooked me. could get back to sleep ok.

since ive been taking the Kalms for the last two nights ive been absolutely fine.

Try them folks they worked for me. and there not like sleeping tablets, you dont wake up feeling crappy.

That's what's happening to me too . . not even in that deep a sleep . . sort of dipping in and out of sleep then I'm suddenly wide awake. Let's hope things improve in a few days.

Im still not sleeping great, I think it must be the patches. Out last night bed at midnight, awake at 5am. I find I just dose in and out and have mad dreams. I was just climbing a steep cliff to find Harry Redknapp(why?), clinging on to a root at the top my mobile went telling me about a job going wrong at Manchester Airport. My grip on the root loosened and I started to fall. Weird, got up quick to watch match of the day.

Have you had the dream about having a fag? I have you wake up in a panic thinking noooooooo, and its a relief its just a dream
