I had my last ciggy on Thursday evening (18th Aug), I went on patches on Friday morning and didn't like the itching. I tried the inhalator on Friday night and it was ok. Saturday morning a went cold turkey and have been ok
What I have found to help with any cravings is to tell myself I will have one later. This morning a really wanted to smoke so I told myself I would have one tonight after dinner. Obviously tonight after dinner I will tell myself to wait and have one tomorrow morning...and so on and so on.
I also keep reminding myself that there is nothing to gain from smoking and loads to gain from quitting (I have a 2 week all inc holiday booked for next year which the ex-cigs weekly fund will be paying for)!!!
I am also doing this for the sake of my two year old son...I want to be around as long as possible to watch him grow up!!
After 20 years of approx 20 a day I think its time to stop...

Well done loopyness. Im on day 8 but i have been down this route before. I know my pitfalls never have one fag it leads to more. Good luck anyway and have fun with your son. Jacqui
Keep it up - sounds like this is working well for you so far. I like the idea of committing your smoking funds for something fun - it helps to reinforce the benefits.
Cheers Guys. This will be my second time quitting. 10 years ago I quit for 2.5 months using the "tell myself I'll have one later" method. But then I got annoyed one night and had "one" and then started smoking again
I have tried MANY times to quit since then and always failed - I always tried NRT but it never worked. I decided to try the "have one later" trick again as it worked last time...so far so good.
My partner is on NRT and he is not doing too well (keeps having the odd sly ciggy).
I think it works for me as I don't feel that I am giving anything up as such...I may well be telling myself I'll have a ciggy later for the next 20 years but as long as I never do then I guess its all good!
I tell myself if I'm still here when I'm 80 I'll try another cigarette. Guess I should be over it then or they will be more expensive than Caviar so i wont be able to afford it at all. Whatever works for you seems to be the mantra. Good luck
Love It!!!! Eventually people will be remortgaging theirs homes just for a 20 pack lol!!
