This time i'll crack it!

Hi there,

So this is my 2nd attempt after previously given up for 7 weeks but cracked last sunday under extreme pressure.

Thinking that maybe i shouldn't have gone cold turkey after 3 weeks with patches and a stick so this time i will run the course of patches.

This time also i have this amazing site for support!

No matter what I will WIN!

  • Digga they say most people will fail the first couple of times but if you are determined enough you will crack it ,you have to fight sometimes ,I've stopped now for 7 months after 43 years of smoking 30-40 a day so if I can do it any body can ,apart from a bit of weight gain about a stone ,I feel great ,I can't stand the smell of smoke any more ,any way good luck

Oh that's fab news, I'm glad he listened to you and he's taken his smoking outside -it should make it a lot easier for you :)

  • RESULT!!!:D

I think part of the difficulty for a quitter with a smoking partner is that the fact that the quitter is quitting can, quite unintentionally, leave the smoker feeling under pressure to do the same and that gets their back up good and proper! Asking for support and help whilst making it clear that you are not getting at them to do the same seems to have the required effect more often than not and, in the case of a male partner, once they see you succeeding they're more likely to give it a bash (sort of an "if she can do it, then I can, I'm not being beaten by a woman" kind of thing - one of the few times that the male ego is actually a bonus not a hindrance!)

Kat i think you are right - i really did have to say to him, look hunni, i'm not doing this for anyone else, i'm not doing it to make you stop, i'm doing this because i want a better quality of life for me.

I've nursed final stage COPD patients and i never want to be one of those, ever. My mum was diagnosed with COPD a few years ago, it breaks my heart!

    I have my patch on 15mg and i have a menthol e-cigarette.

I'm feeling amazingly positive about it all right now - I WILL WIN!
