Weekend coming - worried....

Hi all - just registered, first post.

Last cig was Monday 2 May 9pm, busy at work this week so I've been surprised that I wasn't climbing the walls by Tuesday lunchtime, won't say it's been easy but hasn't seemed as bad as previous (failed !) attempts.

I think I've broken the habit of smoking times (in car, after dinner etc) but I am seriously concerned about the weekend as, like others, it will involve a few beers in a social environment.

I've quit in the past by allowing myself one or two small cigars (that I don't inhale) when out socially just to cover that urge when drinking, but I have to say i'd rather not do that this time.

I'm doing this completely cold turkey, any suggestions ?

Cheers

You're probably right Karri, but it worked for some months a few years back. I guess I saw one cigar a week with zero/minimal inhalation as some kind of 'treat', after a while it got to a point where I wasn't bothering because I was getting nothing from smoking the cigar, it just plugged that gap while fags were still at the forefront of my mind.

Thought it best to avoid that situation tonight so stayed in, tomorrow will be tough though.

Have a good smoke free weekend....

Karri

Whenever your quit day is good luck with it.

One thing I would say is that I ignored all the health warnings/stats/visuals etc whilst I was smoking, but what has really helped me through the last 4 days when I was craving was researching the health affects of smoking.

Might not work for everyone but I definitely went out of my way to ignore the warnings when I was smoking, I guess I'm looking for reassurance of reason during a weak moment, it works though....

Good luck !

Managed to get through 4 hours in a bar without a puff, felt OK for most of it, a couple of scary moments but I got through it, I don't mind admitting I'm quite pleased with myself. I know that Mon-Fri will be easier and hopefully come next weekend I'll be smoke free for 2 weeks and it'll be less of an issue, it must get easier after 2 weeks right ? ? ?

Good luck all...

Thanks Karri - appreciate your comments.

Weekends are tougher I find but when you've gone a few days you become more determined not to undo the good work, I don't want to sound complacent but being busy at work means less time thinking about it.

When is your quit day ?
