I really need not to read future boards as they seem to been quite horrible and realize I have yet to face a tough trek into non-smoking...I see that people into 3 months + still have cravings and coughs ect...

each quit is different as people are all different

for me personally understanding why i smoked and educating myself was the key to my quit read read read

seeing smoking for what it is rather than thinking u are depriving yourself is a real important element

i am three months in and crave maybe 3 times a day tops and those craves are not climb the wall craves they are little craves u can dismiss very easily

knowledge really is power

use these forums to educate yourself about your quit and ask as many questions as u like most on here will have felt the same and know where u are coming froim

That's it boo. You just need to remember why you stopped and learn about why you shouldn't start again.

Remember that those people making craving posts in month 3 are probably going to post that in a time where they're just not having a very good day in general (so, nothing to do with not smoking really). Tell me, do you see people posting in the month 3 thread everyday saying 'yay, I made it another day/hour/minute!!!'?. No, you don't really, because it gets that much easier that there's feeling of needing to celebrate them anymore :)

Although I must-say I DO wake up every day thankful for not smoking anymore :)

Forndog, don't be too put off!

Yes, people further on do sometimes have tough times (although not everyone). But that's because we're all in the process of retraining our brains to be non-smokers, and that does take a long while. It changes though: the 'craves' are not the same as in the early days. They're more manageable, and fewer and further between. I can go days and days now without wanting to smoke.

There are ups and downs. A stressful day, or encountering a situation where you would have smoked before can knock you sideways, and you do have to stay strong and keep your guard up. But as time goes by you get more and more comfortable with being a nonsmoker. You really begin to appreciate the benefits of freedom. You know you can endure a bad day and come out smiling, so it's not so daunting when you get one - does that make sense?

Hang in there. It's totally worth it.

thats quite true, never thought about that....one of the things I do is when my thoughts of smoking (im past cravings) get bad, I look to how much easier it will be in the future...but you do have a valid point that the probably only post when they have bad days...probably like what I will do WHEN I get there.

I would be nice reading more positive stories though

You got me thinking, so I checked over my own history of threads. I've started four in the month three forum. Two about having smoking thoughts, and two very positive ones. I'd say that sums up where I am at the moment.

Perhaps it's just that the 'bad day' posts have more of an impact if you're reading them earlier on in your quit.

Just passing by and thought I might throw in my penneth worth!!

The thing you have to remember is that by the very nature of this place you will see lots of posts from people having a tough time, after all this is a support forum.

The other thing to bear in mind is that as time goes by and you become more confident / comfortable with your quit you tend to come on here to "repay the debt" and offer support to newer quitters rather than seek support for yourself - unless you are having a particularly bad time!!
