Count the ones you didnt smoke

start a count (in excel, or on paper, or your head) of every pack you didnt buy and every fag you didnt smoke, before long it starts to add up and you can feel very pleased with the savings you make, not just money but the days you have added back onto your life. The wrinkle you have delayed, the tooth you have saved, the cost to the NHS you have saved, the extra days, weeks, months and years of spending time with people you love. Soon, this becomes the MOST powerful tool you have in your quest to beat the little stick that has ruled your life for the last 'however long' and fooled you into thinking you 'enjoyed' it. You didnt, you were brainwashed, thats how cigarettes work, they make you think you enjoy it. Once you get to 6 months, you'll see you didnt really, you were just under the influence of nicotine and its addictive power. I quit 10 years ago with my husband after 25 + years of smoking, I did it with patches and determination. COUNTING the unsmoked fags worked for us, 80,000 plus later for me and at least 160,000 for hubs means we have a chance of growing old together. Worth it in my book. :) Every day we thank eachother for giving it up and we NEVER thought we could do it and still get that feeling of emmense joy that we did. I hope this encourages you and if just one person stops for good because of this post then I will be even happier!

Levs1000 Days Smoke Free

Hi

Download a quit counter to keep track of it. I use quit time but just pick whichever one suits you.

My stats from my quit meter are below

5 months 1 days 9 hours 51 minutes smoke-free, 2,128 cigarettes not smoked, £514.98 not spent, 1weeks 9 hours 20 minutes of life saved

41.06 days

1,437 cigarettes not smoked

£425.38 saved

5 days 23 hours and 42 mins - time saved not smoking.

Time saved was the shocker for me, for every week I smoked I spent an entire day of my life smoking !

Hi Joanie, you have to click on whatever one you want and put it onto your computer then set your date/time/cost and copy the information to here.

Thanks for that quit counter, wow thats amazing, I may get that trip to Disneyland with the family afterall!!! I wasn't a massive smoker, but even I would save almost 2k in two years.

Does anybody know how do I work out lifetime length saved, I had a look around the link site, but couldn't find anything.

Keep up the good work everyone

Shaun

just passed the 6000 milestone. Couldn't agree with you more on counting unsmoked fags and unspent money.

People who've never smoked look at you like you're daft when you tell them about money "saved".

I suppose it's like all the money I've never spent on Heroin

I love my quit meter

I recently passed the milestone of 1 mth which is fantastic but the best thing is i didnt smoke a thousand cigarettes which means i RESISTED them.at some level.ISEE IT AS ONE THOUSAND CRAVINGS BEATEN which coudnt have been difficult otherwise id be back chainsmoking i think. Heres to the next thousand i wont smoke i have the evidence that i can do without them.

The smoker I was is becoming a distant memory

We're all doing BRILLIANTLY. MASHx:D

I have a quit meter, my stats are:

Days quit: 1W 5D 15h 52m 5s

Amount saved: £130.42

Cigs not smoked: 506

This is a huge incentive for me, especially the 'cigs not smoked'. It scares me to see the figures, and makes the determination never to smoke again, stronger and stronger the higher the figure goes.

My stats are 1167 cigs not smoked. and 4 days i hr 15 mins of life.
