Day 14, and things are getting a little harder! Ive finally got 'Patch Itch' so at least i can tell theyre working, but beginning to feel anxious in the mornings, not really craving, but like my body knows theres something missing and causing a symptom.

Cycling about 8 miles each day, and feel good when i get home, breathing better, cough now gone, always had problems with falling sugar levels though which smoking seemed to level out - now its a problem again!:(

Also, budget cuts with local quit smoking service means they have a prescription limit, so whereas before they could prescribe my patches and 2 Nicorette sprays, they can now only give out patches and 1 Nicorette spray, but thankfully i had some left over from last quit!

Another little annoyance, during last quit smoking service visit, was told i could have seen the 'lung testing' nurse to test my lung capacity, but as ive used the service in the last 6 months i cant:confused: The nurse was paid to be there anyway, and its a plastic reusable device they use, yet budget states they couldnt do my test!!! If i used it or not they would be spending exactly the same???!!! Bureaucratic nonsence at its best! If i were coming off some class A drug, i would have nurses piling me high with drugs, probably a plush new clinic to visit, would have my house paid for, all bills paid on my behalf and not have to work!!!

Hi toto, well done to you. Day 14 is brilliant :D

Patch itch can be due to the brand not suiting you as I found or not being applied to skin that has no moisturiser etc on it as that can effect it.

Falling sugar levels : smoking makes your body produce sugar when you stop your body has to learn how to do it itself again which is why they advice drinking fruit juice for a few days to help with the drop. Your body will learn to compensate for this quite quickly which is good news, just need a little help to start.

NHS cuts are a bugger. Try your local chemists, even they differ. I am now going to tesco pharmacy which is much more lenient than another local chemist so 'shop' around. They offer the same support as your practice nurse if not better in my opinion. As far as 'advice' goes it's all the same standard unhelpfull i think nhs stuff but if you need nrt like myself then go for it.

Wishing you well, you can do it.

Gaynor xx
