And well done on your decisions to quit smoking. It may be a bit of a rollercoaster ride for you at times but hang on tight and it will be one of the best decisions you have made Many people on the forums used to say that to me and I used to think 'yeah right' but they were right.
Share your experiences with others on this forum and read as much as you can on nicotine addiction and quitting smoking. There is a good link in my signature and plenty of other good links in other peoples signatures.
If like most of us, you have tried quitting before, then try not to dwell on any previous quit attempts. Perhaps just take from them the where it 'went wrong' so the same mistake/s aren't made again.
I am also curious as to why so many people quit in October. Obvioulsy it doesn't matter what month people quit in but it seems to be quite a popular month. Last October the Octoquits were formed and most of them are entering the Penthouse now (the virtual place where you go once you have been quit for 12 months). October just seems to be a really popluar and successful quit month. There possibly is no answer to why it was just an observation on my part.

Thanks for the words of encouragement - maybe October is popular because it is when it starts to get cold and wet - we not want to have to be sent outside in the snow? And then it is horrid weather for ages after, so we keep it up?? Need to extra money for Christmas???
Hi Tink, I think that most people tend to quit in the cold Months for a number of reasons, one being as inthegenes said its not very nice to stand out in the rain and the cold smoking and another could be that October is when all the coughs and colds begin to make there presence felt, really dont know but we can make our own reasons so long as we quit and stay quit, I see you are an Octiquit so what date is your Year Milestone?? must be soon or have I missed yet another one, sorry if I have.
Probably the weather has a lot to do with it, but also Christmas and the new year are in sight and the thought of yet another year of being a smoker may just be the push we needed.
No idea why but I have made many life changing decisions in October. Twice walked away from bad relationships in October, 3 times moved house in October, successfully applied for promotion twice in October, heard about my adopted daughter in October, hmmmm....never throught about it before but for me it seems to have been an auspicious month.
Maybe the end of summer, the change in the weather and the realisation that if you want to make significant changes then time is running out....who knows. :rolleyes:

Yes there's definitely something going on about October! I too have mived house a couple of times in October - last October we got a new kitten and I quit smoking - this October I have decided to learn to drive at the grand old age of 32 and just sent off for my provisional licence!
