Hi All

Just popped back in on Day 1 to let you all know that it is worth all the effort. Fags really don't do anything except make you want another Fag. Life is better without!

I'm on week 13 tomorrow and I'm £1200 better off for escaping the addiction

I Joined a Tennis club - £30/month

I take tennis lessons - £50/month

My daughter goes to Horse riding classes with my wife - £120/month

My wife joined a gym £37/month

I got the whole Sky package including movies & sports £40/month

I got myself an iphone £35/month

So did my wife £55/month

and it all cost less than my smoking habbit including the beers I would also consume to lubricate the filth

You could even add a meal out once a month...

Above are all the things that I used to tell my wife that we could not afford...

Smoking takes away your life in many ways before it kills you...

Good luck to all.

Wow defrog! :)

TBH I don't really see a huge amount a difference on the money side of things but I think that is because I'm wasting it on other things i.e. food, magazines, etc, etc. I might start doing the cash for ash thing that I know another forum member (Karen) used to do and from time to time she used to come on here and list the things she had brought out the the money she would have spent on feeding her nicotine addiction.

I do totally agree with you when you say 'smoking takes away your life in many ways before it kills you' . Don't get me wrong I have my difficult days but people who have never smoked have those. It is as though I've had a bit of a lightbulb moment with this quit, it's as though I'm free (it that makes sense).

Newbies your quit journey will be like a rollercoaster ride but hang in there, perhaps keep a cash for ash tin and start to list things you can afford to treat yourself to now you're not wasting money on feeding the nicodemon.

Also read, read and read about the addiction to nicotine and the quit process. There are good links in signatures. Share your experiences and read others. And soon you'll have that 'ping' moment - I'm sure of it ;)

Nice one defrog I'm sure your post will inspire others.

:)

Hi All

Thanks for your comments

I have had my light bulb moment. But I have also realised that I need to keep the battle alive...I don't suffer any cravings and am happy every day I wake glad that I don't smoke...My battle is with the brainwashing we all suffer that got us to try the damn things in the first place. So I'm just going to keep on doing the things that made my escape easy... Reading Allen Carr and listening to hypnosis CD's...I'll do it the rest of my life if that's what it takes...

I really believe it is impossible to really escape the nicotine trap unless you really understand why we poison ourselves in the first place.

Rob

Well done on 13 weeks and an enormous sum saved and spent on much more productive things than going up in smoke.

I am glad you are very aware of the trap of nicotine and how easy it is to slip back, vigilance is the keyword I think.

Enjoy your freedom and your new hobbies.
