Just had a thought about how long it had been since I quit so took a look on my quit counter. In 5 days it will be 6 months! Thought I better post it now before I forget.
Can honestly say I almost never want to smoke anymore and delight in doing so many things without the worry of getting in that smoke!
For example,
I treated myself to an across country flight (no problem now going 6 hours with no smoke!!) and had a wonderful time.
It is winter now and it is great having all the windows shut and the fire warming the house. So different from when I went to smoke in the very cold back room with the window open!
My skin has really improved, colour is good and for the first time in 45 years I do not have acne...it had been those nasty smokes the whole time!!
I have treated myself to an exercise bike and a cross trainer. I work out 1 hour most days, and I also go to a boot camp fitness class (will start again as soon as it gets a bit warmer)! It is fun to feel good and want to get up and get going!
Did I mention the money I have saved, 2 packs a day times 6 months..yep that is a lot of money I now have for other things! Shocking I was spending all that money on killing myself!
So to sum up how things are today, 6 months into being a person who does not smoke....... I feel totally happy!
I'll check back at 1 year!

Hi downunder and congratulation at 6 months , you seem to be at the same stage as myself in respect of stop time and age and I am curios to know what made you decide to stop smoking at 56 years of age?. Why are you going to check back in at the year mark as I am sure that there are many many people who would like your comments or support as they start there quit journey so come and talk to them and us more often, but it is great to hear how you are doing.
