Day 2 nearly done

Hi all, found this forum a wee while ago when i decided i was going to do it, now here i am. Smoked for around 20 years, between 15-30 a day, rolling baccy. Wanted to quit again for about a year. Last time i lasted about 3 months on patches, 5 years ago ish.

Started a course of Champix 2 weeks ago, was expecting something to happen, feel ill or something to put me off them is what i'd heard. Nothing, got to day 13 (tuesday), was at the end of my baccy pouch with probably 2 cigs worth left in it and just threw it in the bin, after i'd had my bed time cig of course! Was fully in denial that the Champix had actually done anything at all except make me fart, dream and generally think about things more. But i'm not really having any side effects from stopping, i sat at brew time with a load of smoking builders and not felt any overbearing urges. I'm not going to stop the Champix, obviously its doing something, i've not had the best will power in the world before so no reason why i would this time, so it is working, just making me feel like its me thats done it!

Only real effect i'm getting is that i'm missing something, not doing something is all i can describe it as.

Anyone else used Champix, how did it affect you?

Hi Morris

I'm not a champix quitter, but lots of people are and will be on to help you I'm sure. Two days is great! By the end of the third, the nicotine's out of your body. Fantastic! Glad things are going so well, good luck today

HI Morris,

Good on ya, I am using the patches but it great that you have no side effects from the champix, and i know what you mean about 'missing soemthing' I haven't really felt it with the cigs cause i tend to replace them with a water bottle so i have something to hold onto and do similar to smoking but i certinally felt it when i gave a drinking years ago so i replaced it with exercise.

Good luck, your doing well.

Welcome Morris & well done on your quit.

Cannot comment on champix as I am using patches & lozenges but plenty on here have or are using it. Glad to hear you are having no ill effects (apart from the trumping) just the positive ones ;)

The 'missing something' phase soon passes but it is a strange feeling I know. I used to go in the kitchen & just stand there not quite knowing what I was looking for. Ah yes, it was the cigarretes that I don't use anymore  It does pass quickly as I said.

Keep it up, keep strong, keep smoke free :D

This is how Champix works it stops you wanting to smoke but the missing something is there of course as smoking was a huge part of yout life

I used it and have been quit 16 months had some bad days but not many

Blend in

I started to smoke very young as well, thinking that it will make me blend well with others. But I can see that I irritate I lot of people because of my smoking

Hi Morris

I've used everything including champix, only side affect I had was the nusea. I found they worked until I got to smart and thought I could do without them.

Very best of luck, never give up trying I've lost count, but this is it.
