Day 29- Feeling good but VERY Spotty

Hi everyone

Hope you are all getting through the day with as little pain and angst as poss.

I thought I was doing rather well then yesterday I started to get a really short fuse. Seems to have passed today. But yesterday I kept thinking about smoking. I knew it would be rubbish and make me feel terrible but still that nagging urge was there. Very pleased to say I didn't smoke.

I guess I hadn't had a trigger for a while or I could see them coming and prepare for them. Just waking up in a sh*tty mood yesterday led me to keep looking for that old habit to get me through..

The other thing is I am breaking in out so many spots... my skin is terrible. Does anyone else have this? I wonder if it is the toxins flushing out, or the double dose of Champix I am still on? I am drinking less coffee and alcohol than I did before but eating loads. On the plus side my skin is losing the greyish hue that it had for the last ten years or so!!

It's not easy, but it really helps logging in here every so often to see what other people are going through. Hope you are all doing well

  • Well done Clo, just to let you know I know what you are going through. My skin was sooooooo bad after quitting, but now its better than ever. Give it a month or 6 weeks and it will be better don't worry :)

  • well done clo..

29 days congratulations....I too have spots. A good sign me you said the toxins being flushed guilty of not drinking enough water!!! i have to force myself ..hate the stuff!!!

ure doing so well..& more good days come until it all clicks into place..keep going xx almost day 30 xx

  • Alcohol brings on the spots but also everyones body reacts differently to stress. For me stress comes out on my skin either a rash or the lurvely spotty spots. Now toxins need to be excreated from the body and this will be via your urine, sweat and skin. So the more water you drink esp combined with exercise the quicker to release the toxins.

my top tip would be go for a full holistic swedish body massage, this encourages faster delivery of nutrients and oxygen vis the blood to the organs and speeds up the removal of harmful toxins and metabolic waste. I'd say go once a week for three weeks then once a month there after to keep on top of your health.

with any luck the spots will go. plenty of water.

  • Thanks for your wise words

    Thanks all

I feel much better today and will keep on battling through the urges.

I LOVE the advice about Swedish massages and trips to a steam room (thanks Chrissie V and Fallen Angel). I should be saving money from not smoking but I think most of it is all going on food instead! Still I think it would be great to flush out some of the toxins, de-stress and treat myself.

Wildcats- thank you for you comment. It's encouraging to hear your skin is better than ever... here's hoping I won't have to wait too long!

KitKat- Totally with you on the water front. It is so dull. I'm trying to get into detox herbal tea instead, especially if it has liquorice in it.

And Margareth- thanks for your words of support. My emotions are generally all over the place anyway so no wonder they are even more spiky now that I'm changing so much in my life.

I don't know where you all are, but it is a glorious sunny day here in London which certainly helps me feel a bit more on top of things.

    Right- best down some water...

  • Hi Clo,

I too had quitzits, my skin is still not great but (I'll say this bit quietly... It is improving slowly! ...

I too like the idea of the massage! I keep justifying every spend with the fact that I no longer smoke. I'm poorer than I was when I smoked! But I am much healthier! :D

    Hang on in there!
