Hi nathan

hang in there, take some deep slow breaths, everything will be okay. Cravings will pass and will not kill you.

I dont know about patches, maybe someone else can come along and give some advice. Could you tell us what patches you are on?

???

Im not sure about patches, I have never used them. But get you some gum, sunflower seeds, something to distract you. The cravings dont last long but sometimes can come often. Take a walk, a deep breath.

Hang in there, if you can get thru your first 3 days (the worst days) you'll be fine. You are doing such an amazing job just getting thru day 1. Take it day by day. Focus on just today. You CAN do this. Message any time, I have found there is someone ALWAYS here when we need sum1. Good Luck. Maria (zanadoo)

I did patches. I still went through some bad times at the start and i cant say whether they helped or not to be honest. Try not to let the craves build up in your head. They are probably going to to be triggers where you would normally have smoked. Each time you pass one of these it will become easier. I also found mentally that to choose to smoke for that min or hour and take it step by step is helpful. This helps to keep you mentally on the ball. Please dont panic. It does get easier. The more you face it, the better it becomes. When you have time, try reading some of the tales from the quit, they help you work out the emotional side of what you are doing. Applying the HALT logic can also help (see the welcome thread on day 1).

You are doing a truly great thing. Applaude yourself!!

I was given patches AND lozenges. The patch is there for all the time and the lozenges for when you crave.

HI Nathan

Hope you are beginning to feel better....day 2 really is hell, or it was for me...it was the worst day I did. Stay strong and remember that you can get through today and then you will never ever have to do day 2 again.

stay strong...xx

Hi Nathan, hows many cigs were you smoking prior to quitting?

I have tried patches each time i have quit.

Beacuse i smoked up to 40 a day i'm allowed to have something other than the patch.

I'm using the inhalator when i have a craving.

Are you doing it by yourself or do you have the support of a stop smoking nurse?

Hang in there, dont let the nicotine deamon win!

If you have not already read this then I would highly recommend reading whyquit - symptoms
