It really is tough Shaun but it can be done and you have found a great support group. Can I suggest the buying off lollipops and keep busy (go for a bath). Good luck and well done, first day nearly over xx
Lollies and comfort eating are great in the first couple of weeks that really helps.
I really know how you feel, keeping busy is the key, have you got an xbox or Wii? Take the dog out, sort your sock draw out, paint the bathroom, go for a walk, count the money in the coin bottle (if you have one). I know this sounds silly but trust me it will take your mind off it.
I used Champix and it's good, but you need a strong will too. Good luck, you are doing really well sweetheart.
Keep with it, it does get easier and in time, you will see it's worth it.
I feel for you, the first days/weeks are not something I ever plan to go through again. Find yourself useful fun replacement things to do to help fill the void that not smoking may bring along.
Coming here and reading and gaining knowledge about how quitting affects you will help enormously. Check the sigs for links in peoples posts.
All the best to you. Quitting can be tough but it can be made easier or more bearable by knowledge and being prepared.
Hi. There's a great story about day 1 on the tales from the quit . Subject welcome to hell. It sounds scary but its totally inspiring! You've done a great thing. Feel proud you've made that move, eat crap, go to bed then thats your day done. It gets easier. Honest!
Hey Shaun, day one is not the hardest thing you have done the hardest thing was to decide to stop smoking. It's going to be a long road so prepare yourself for it. It's fantastic you have gine even this far so pat yourself on the back. I find extra strong mints have helped me alot during my first few days and they are still helping me now.
Read this thread it's one of mine and it may help you.
There is also many more threads and links you can read that will help you in the early stages and all the way through. I'm now on 12 weeks and to you that may seem a long time away, it's not it's just aroung the corner and when you get here.......Wow!! will you feel good.
Keep at it and you will do it struggling can be all in you mind because you think you should.
Getting to be smoke free is hard but sooo worth it
Hi Shaun I am so pleased for you, and know how proud you must be feeling at the start of your quit.
As jack and every one else says it does get better but right at this minute I know it doesnt feel that way but it will and soon you will start to feel the benefits and they are amazing, try and drink plenty of healthy ice cold drinks and try and cut down on the tea and coffee as these excentuate the craves.
This site is a lifeline for all quitters and will carry you along the road to smoke free so hurry along and we will be waiting for you at the local no smoking choccy shop.
hi, well done, glad you are here! I am a big fan of chewing gum right now. Also hard candies are a good idea.
The first bit is the worst, but as someone else said, I found the actual decision making up to the quit to be harder than the quit. I kept going back and forth, and was terrified of quitting. Once I decided to do it and did it, things got better.
Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members
