New to this site I am in my 2nd week of trying to quit a 30 plus a day habit. I am now down to 3 a day with the help of strong patches and think I will be able to give up very soon. The problems I am having is not being able to sleep, keep waking around 3 in thew morning and not being able to get back to sleep. It then makes me irritable during the day  I realy want to quit any advise would really help thank you

Hi Catherine
I'm on my second week too - using 21mg NiQuitIn clear patches. I was having lots of problems sleeping and when I was sleeping I had nightmares. Someone here advised me to take the patch off at night and so far, two nights good sleep, which is helping me deal with the cravings in a more rational way during the day.
This forum is great and just knowing there are people in the same situation as you makes all the difference. And folks like Bradders are a huge help!
Well done for stopping smoking a huge decision for most of us Braddres is right most of us suffer sleep problems at first
I think a lot of it is that you're getting more oxygen in your bloodstream and therefore your brain than you're used to and if you're using 24 hour patches that won't help with it
Many take them off at night I didn't use them as they didn't suit me but we don't smoke when asleep anyway
Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members

Welcome Catherine and well done deciding to stop smoking.
You are not supposed to smoke and wear the patches you may be getting too much nicotine in a day that will interfere with your sleeping and cause your cravings to be worse. Also, you may have to take them off at night if they are 24 hour ones they do cause sleep problems.
