should I be feeling so good? like I said yesterday im just worried in case it is the calm before the storm and that throws me off, today I am starting to get the dreaded cough, coughing up all sorts this morning, not too bad yet I no there is more to come with this cough

well im glad im here and hope I keep going, can anyhone tell me which days are meant to be the worst phycially wisre? with using patches giving up

p.s I forgot to say, pls dont think that because I am being positive that I am saying its 'easy' its not, its just not as bad as I thought for me right now, it could get eassier or worse,

my mood toward my boyfirend has been awful, he is also quitting with me, he smoked a lot less, and 'light fags' he is doing cold turky, not even bothering him grrr, but he wasnt as much as heavy smoker, so he will be ok I think

hopefully my mood will get a little lighter as just now, im happy then will jst snap for no reason but hey I can deal with the mood changes if I remain smoke from :)

First of all, a big well done on getting to day 2;)

I'm not using patches, and it was so long when I did try them that I can't remember what they were like in terms of physical symptoms - I'm sure someone else will be along soon that can answer that side of things.

I actually think breaking the habits is the hard part - at least it has been for me. Even going cold turkey I found the first few days fairly straight forward; it was days 4 & 5 where I really started to struggle with the habits. Even up to day 9 I was still putting my hand in my fags pocket automatically.

I'm on day 11 now and the habits thing is definitely starting to drop away quite a lot now.

Everyone is different though!!......

Day two sans fags, and on the patch.

I feel very woozy and out of sorts but haven't felt interested in smoking.

Hi Kate :D

Well done you day 2 and not as bad as you thought good the coughing is normal just the lungs having a spring clean

No one can tell you which will be bad days as we're all different so are our quits

Don't look for trouble just take it one day at a time you might be one of the lucky ones who don't have any really bad days just hang in there OK

Hi Don :D

Day 2 for you as well that's great feeling woozy and out of sorts is normal as well

Pleased to hear you have no interest in smoking

Love to both

Marg xx

Is it just me, or does time pass much more slowly as a non-smoker?!

It feels like I've been at work for hours. Normally I don't even start to feel like this till the late afternoon... By now I would normally have had two, maybe three cigarettes since 6am, so it's not as if I've spent far more time actually working, than I did before I was quitting.

In one previous job, there were four of us in the department who smoked, and we'd go out together mid-morning for a crafty salmon. At least as many non-smokers would join us, for a "virtual fag break" - I'm beginning to understand why!

That's because you are having to change your routine, having to find something to fill the void left by that 5 or 10 minute fag break.

It's just a habit thing that you need to get past...

hey everyone thanks for you kind words, glad everyone is doing ok

its kinda wierd as someone mentioned above, its my the 'habit' side that is bugging me im still thinking like a smoker like 'when I dropped boy off can have a cig on way home' ohh when dinner finished can have a nice cig as a treat lol yes im still seeing them as 'nice'

I am also getting the woozy feeling with patches, I think it is part from the pathc and part from the real cigarette nicotine leaving the boday that is causing it, but it does pass, i dont feel so funny today

I will tell everyone something untill nearly 5 yrs ago I was a heroin addict! was on the stuff for almost 5 yrs, so im pretty sure if I can get off that then I can beat the cigs

I used subutex to come of the heroin, it took a few trys and I relapsed a few times, but I can now say I havent touched in nearly 5 yrs ago! that is a big lifestyle change, I think its an even bigger ' way of life/habit' than smoking, so if I can change my pattern from that I should be ok :)

I dont feel it is a cop out to go with nrt, if it means I have more chance of sucsess then its alright in my books, I think some people feel 'cold terky' is best as you realise the crap you go through to get free from cigs, but like with my herion addiciton, why punish yourself and do the hard way {for some people hard/some find easier with cold turkey} I beleive if the end result is the same 'smoke free' then its ok what you do/use :)

Im only on day 2 and have had the thought twice about im taking 'easy way' but none in reality is easy and its that we got there that matters

anyways, can you all tell im trying to occupy myself lol feeling bit jittery right now, so keeping myself busy, carry one everyone we can all beat this!

Hi Kate

Congrats on your quit sounds like you are really doing well, see you still see them as nice !!!! might last a bit longer that but it will pass and you will see them for what they are. You mentioned about the heroin which i think is very brave and honest of you and if you can beat that habit you will certainly kick nicotines arse. Well done to you you should be very proud of yourself keep strong Kate there are plenty of people on here will help you get through this. Keep posting letting us all know how you are doing, always good to post when you are struggling as someone will be around to chat take your mind of things ......keep going Kate freedom just around the corner :)

o.m.g i have been hearing about ppl on here having funny dreams when they are on the patches or cant sleep, so far all i can do ids sleep, fell asleep 3 times this evening, but i just woke up after the weirdest dream, starring a demon from a dvd i watched recently starring as a woman and alsp ken barlow from corrie lol , they were sat chilling with some other ppl in a park, there were a post box and ken kept trying to send a letter, but it were completly full so he were moaning barlow style and it some how turned into a demon who were then in a park, looking like a normal man, then one guy took and gun and tried to shoot himself, everyone were like no dnt do it, so he said ok i wont but i want u {ken barlow} to do it, then they kept setting off these bombs on us makin everyone run round the park, then the 'nice ppl' found a gap in a fence round the park and were going through it to excape thats when the 'woman' turned into the demon and stopped ppl getting out

then i woke up, lol is this the type of weird dreams you get on the patches, i do get funny dream usually but nothing like this

or am i just going crazy hehe

well just cominbg into day 3 and still going good so far :)
