Grrrr. Very annoyed this evening. My special treat to mself for stoppping the stinky weed was a new hairdo tomorrow- very excited, have been planning on a Debbie Harry-esque rampant cheeky bob style for ages. Told other half (stinky smoking person!) who said I would look- get this- 'awful' with short hair! How ruuuude! And, despite doing very well, this has tipped me over the sanity edge and I am fuming! How bleeding dare someone tell me I can't cut my hair? He actually said 'don't do it, you'll look awful'! I don't know why this has made me so angry, but I feel like killing! Absolutely mad eh? Must get a grip... But, still, bleeding rude I think!
Oh dear, will I be angry forever?? I was getting my hair done before visiting my sis, big happy day and night away- all feels very poopy now. God, I am being ridiculous!!
Must get a grip, must get a grip, must get a grip...

Hi Deedeebel - go and get your hair cut as short as you please. You will never regret it. I had long straight hair forever, and 12 months ago I decided to get the chop. OH was dead set against the idea - he liked my long hair and thought it would look awful short. I got it cut. he loved it. He still loves it and raves about how great it looks compared to my previous style. It also knocked 10 years off my appearance and gave me a huge confidence boost.
Lesson - most men have no imagination about women's hairstyles. They think we should all have Cheryl Cole extensions.
I just treated myself to a new haircut. Shortish, layered, messy sort of style. Let my trusted hairdresser loose. Its looks great, takes years off me, easy to manage and a real fresh new me. Men have no idea. My OH likes long 'blonde' hair. Yeah right on a 20 year old or I told him he could grow his own hair if thats what he likes.

GO DO IT. And post a photo tomorrow nite.
Bless ya chick! I have got myself all worked up!! Silly moo I am. You're right- I will just go and do it, I will look amazing (I hope so) and he WILL like it or lump it! What is it with men and long hair? The thing is, he fancies loads of celeb types with the cute short hair, but the wife must have flowing tresses- doesn't matter if they look like straw! Bring on the rock chick funky bob!
Thanks, I feel better now XXX
Oh, and reminding me about the Cheryl Cole fake hair helped! Cheers for that!! Will post pic when able

Wow! It really is all men then! OK, I am def getting my cool cut. As I now smell delicious, I think I should also look fab! A while ago there was a post about 'normality', and maybe this is part of the new normal (well, I can try!!) me. Better skin, nicer breath, fabulous hair! That can be my new normality.
I agree with the rest on this most men like long hair and they hate it if we say we're going to change it
Ignore your OH and do what you want it's your hair after all and I totally understand why you're fuming about the way he reacted so would I be fuming arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Many years ago now I had long hair as well so long that I could sit on it but at the times we had a heat wave and I was working in a fish and chip shop [actually doing the frying] I guess you can imagine how hot it was there anyway one day I couldn't stand it any more so walked across the road after work and had my hair cut really short and then I went home !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh boy the temper tantrum [from my late hubby] would have put any self respecting 2 year old to shame, how dare I, what did I think I was playing at not getting his say so etc etc that was the mildest ones he hated it on and on and on for a couple of hours and then he didn't speak to me for three days [was very peaceful]
But at the end of that huge sulk he admitted that he liked it short arghhhhhhh
so you go ahead and get it cut for you just as you quit for you
My appointment's at 2! Then hopping on the train and heading to Worthing to see my sis and drink pink fizz!! Feeling loads better today, lunacy over, anger stashed in cupboard!
OK folks, hair is bleeding fab! Just trying to figure out how to put photo into post...
OK, can't do it! Am clearly a bit thick thid evening!! Anyway, trust me, it looks great! V tousled, a bit rock chick- kind of a cross between Debbie Harry and Maralyn Monroe! At least, in my deludded mind... Oh, and the OH loves it!!

Go girl...and OH now knows that you look good for you..
I am probably setting myself up here. I just want to speak a male's point of view. Long hair is something guys don't have and we find it sensual. Just do not want to have that sexy item go away. My wife's long hair went away in a way that no real man would get upset about. Chemo.
I absoulutly loved the short hair look. I found it so much sexier than the long. I wish she would go back to the short look but it is her hair. Thing is you just do not want to have change until it is forced upon you. Then you find you love it.

What can I say. Guys are jerks.

7 years is great, glad you got through it together. And must give even more resolve to your quit. Cancer is a sobering thought eh. And yes, mamograms are definitely necessary- they have a portable unit that parks up in the town centre here, what a brilliant idea! You don't book appointments, just walk in.
