Day 4 post no. 2 (is that allowed?) ha ha

Feel like I've just jumped over some sort of hurdle - dont think thats the right expression, cant think how to describe it - except to tell you.

I was out shopping and walking along the street, could smell someone smoking from some distance away and as I got nearer, it was an elderly gent in a wheelchair and what could have been his wife standing beside him. They had both just lit up but as I passed the lady coughed, that deep throat cough that I had myself just a few days ago. I would have thought I would feel like ripping the cig out of her fingers but I didn't - I just felt very sorry for her. How good is that? Feel like thats some sort of Good Thing happened there and it quite surprised me to be honest. Woo hoo, go me!!

  • Go Viv

Way to Viv....pity is what you are supposed to feel when you see

    someone smoking, not envy...

    Keep up the no smoking.

  • Well done viv - big step forward. First thing I started noticing was the smell. Even outdoors at several paces I could smell someone smoking before I saw them - and don't envy them in the slightest.

  • Thank you all so much for that support, especially you Marg, you are so encouraging, thank you millions and millions - you really have your finger on the pulse with it all. The flowers are lovely, my fav. colour too. xx

I do know I'm not supposed to feel envy - it was just that I was so surprised that I didn't feel it - it gave me such a boost when I realised it and an inner smile!!

Kate so pleased to hear you are doing well too - we are real stars - go us girls!! I thought today for the very first time (mind you, first time I've been out really since Monday, a lot of soul searching and hand/heart wringing has gone on!) and I do think it smells terrible too. Makes me feel ashamed of myself. However, I will never be one of those sanctimonious people and not ever say anything to those smoking because thats their free choice, as it was mine all those years and we all live our lives in the best way we can at the time. I will never judge anyone else as I think thats just plain wrong.

Very many thanks also to Linda and Sue, I appreciate your encouragement so much - we are all great.

Kate yes, roll on day 5 - bring it on!! Have you joined the November quitters club Kate? I will look out for you on there.

    Love Vivienne. x
