Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum but I'm not new to trying to quit smoking! I've been (unsuccessfully) trying to quit since February.
The time has come for me to try again. I had my last cigarette today at 1.40pm.
Wish my luck!

Good luck Boober.
Hi Boober
Well done on the decision to stop smoking Lots of us have tried many times in the past I lost count of how many times I tried
Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members
Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good
You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathising with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad
Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here
are 2 I found very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com
Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be
This link is good for the psychological part of quitting whyquit.com/whyquit/A_Sympt...
Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here OK
Love
Marg
Hiya, Congrats on your day 1! I've had many attempts over the last few weeks, but am now using gum and so far all going ok!
Good luck - lets hope this is the quit for good for both of us!

all the best mate, see you tomorrow for your 24 hour not smoked post
Thank you all for your replies. It's been nearly 4 hours since my last cigarette and I feel like I'm going insane. I can't stop thinking about how much I want one - this in the past has been my downfall as I usually give in and buy a packet.
I need to sit down and really think why I want to quit smoking - look at the positives of quititing and not the negatives.
Welcome Boober....never give in giving up....we all have our failures behind us so you are not alone.
keep posting and reading here it really helps
Look forward to day 2 tomorrow...

Have you read the links in the sigs. They will really help you get your head in the right place, as I am sure you are aware this is as much a head thing as anything else.
In the beginning it helped me to focus on the fact the I was choosing not to smoke, and I remember spending the first weeks, "choosing not to smoke for the next hour" and then in the next hour choosing not to smoke again. I also had quite a lot of early nights just to get me through, but it will pass and it does get better.
Hang in there we are all there with you.
Welcome to the forum Boober, good luck with your quit.
I FAILED!!!!!! I'm so disappointed in myself that I have no willpower. As soon as a thought of a cigarette comes into my head all my willpower flies out of the window.
I'm not going to give up.
Tomorrow is a new day and a new start.
Ok why don't you try this, when you want a fag you come on here, and you have to wait until you have had 5 replies before you have one, the plan being that the 5 replies will help you get through your crave.
The other thing to do is to read, read, read, it will really help you get through the difficult early hours, days.
Glad to hear you are not giving up on quitting, and the only failure is the failure to try (Goodness doesn't that saying just make you want to be sick)
We are all here for you, let us know how you get on tomorrow.
Thanks Bev for your reply.
I will certainly try your tactic of posting on here when I get a craving. Nothing to lose but all to gain.
