i am on day 10 and feeling bad, moody, horrible to kids, dog and hubby. can't stop crying, feel like i need to be in bed by 8pm so tired. i would like some feedback as to when i might start to feel better, hopefully i just need a goal to get me through.

Well the 1st 2 weeks are an endurance and most of what lingers on in the way of physical symptoms is pretty much sorted out by the end of the 3rd week.

You are probably going to start feeling much more normal by day 14, I know that might not help too much but if you look at it on a time line, you are already well over half way there.

After that point its down to learning to live as a non smoker and stay stopped.

Hang in there its worth it.

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

Well done you on day 10 that's great you're already through the worst bit so just hang in there you can do this Promise

The way you feel just now is perfectly normal but as your body adjusts to you not feeding it a diet of chemicals you'll start to feel better every day

Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here OK

2nd week

im doing alright - well yeserday was a pretty tough day, not interms of craving just feeling hit hard by the recovery process - my body just felt like it was about to stop working! Was knocked out all day and then awake till about 5am feeling terrible. needless to say very tired today but overjoyed to have made it to week 2.

Hi,

week two had me off on the sick for a few days! I felt most flu like and tired and grumpy. It will get better, honest! Well done for you quit so far, keep positive and continue to choose not to smoke!

Sounds like your body is healing by getting rid of the poisons, if you see it as that it will help. Reading some of the literature at the end of our posts will also help you to understand the nicotine addiction and what your body is going through.

10 Days is brilliant.

i am overwhelmed by you all, i didn't expect any response to be honest i just wanted to vent my anger somewhere, rather than at friends and family. i feel better and stronger just knowing you are all behind me and that so many people have done it that it is not as impossible as i was begining to think. so lets take it one day at a time, and hopefully tomorrow will be better than today.

Thanks for all your help, and i will be back to get help with the bad days and share the good ones.

yep yep yep, sums up how I've been feeling. I don't have kids or a dog but do have 4 guinea pigs, and I've even looked at them and thought "grrrrrrrr!" and they're the most cute, placid creatures going.

well we are at the same stage and it sounds scarily familiar!!

I am guessing if this lot all tell us they feel better that we need to believe them, but tbh I need it to feel better NOW!!! lol

I swore at a 90 year old iijit of a car parker, a toddler and some macaroni cheese today - normally I am the most good natured cheerful, always laughing, woman on the block!

That woman needs to return pdq!

Hang on in here with me babes - misery loves company!! lol

Sorry you still feel a bit rough but yes please believe us it does get better and better as you get a bit further into the quit

The bad temper etc will all pass and you'll feel just great Promise you just have to be a little patient your body is slowly healing itself from the abuse you gave it while smoking
