Hi all I'm new here been smoking for 11 years decided a few times to stop and failed at the first few days
anyway i contacted my local surgery to find out when there cessations where to find out it was the middle of when i work and working 40 miles away there was no way my employer was going to be happy with that
i then contacted quit line to be told try again they have to help so i did to get the same response "sorry we cant help you" after milling this over a few days and felt really angry that i was being penalized for working i have decided to fund it myself lets face it its cheaper than smoking anyway
so here i am first hour in not had one since last night got a patch on and for once feel good and positive about unlike other times
it truly feels good at the moment but I'm guessing this will not be the only post i will be putting on here lol

Hello and welcome to the forum! Yes you will be posting a lot I think as the next few days go by. Marg and others will post some useful links for you to read.
Hiya DrDeep. Good for you, making that decision could be the best thing you've done in your life. How do you get the patches, is it by prescription or do you pay full price, with a user name like that you could write out your own, plenty going on ebay. Still, never mind how, just give it a chance, if you do suffer in the early days, you may never have to go through it again. David
Chris, your last post about how you got your name made me laugh so much - best tonic i've had in a while - really brightened my day, good luck with ya quit

welcome! How are you holding up so far? First few day can suck.... but I hope you are not struggling! Stay busy and when the thought 'I want a smoke' pops in you head, don't follow that train of thought but come on here instead!
I read your post regards being unable to attend the smoking cessation. I just wanted to let you know my local chemist has smoking cessation and the advisor works around you as long as there open that is....... Just thought i,d pass this on as not many people know that chemist sometimes have advisors.... Keep it up your doing great
Well done for taking the decision to go for it. Like you I counted the hours at first, even the minutes, the need to feel I was achieving something I suppose. But the big achievemnent is to make the decision and then act on it. and those hours turn into a whole day pretty quickly.
Stay strong. You'll find lots of support and help here.
