I'm new to this site and have stopped smoking for 1 week now cold-tukey. To begin with I thougt this is so much easier than I thought but today I feel awful. I feel anxious which is causing anxiety and making feel generally bad. Did anyone alse feel this after a week and if so please tell me it will go soon. Any advice or help on how to start feeling normal would be great.

Yes people do sometimes find that it causes a great deal of anxiety, but it does pass.
A positive mental attitude helps, have a read of the links in my signature for some inspiration and information about nicotine addiction ad what to expect while quitting.
Most of all try to see quitting as a positive gaining experience (health, wealth and control) rather than a sacrifice of some great pleasure.
Thank you so much for the reply. I already feel mentally so much better/stronger for making that decision to stop smoking but I think I just didn't prepare myslef for how terrible it would physically make me feel. I know the benifits in the long run will outway a couple of weeks of feeling like crap but I just wish it was over. I will have a look at the links you've provided.
When you say it takes a lot of time I assume you really mean just a few more days???? I wish Thanks for the reply. Just being on this forum has already made me feel loads better knowing you're not the only one struggling.
Get over the first 3 to 5 days when the nicotine is leaving your body and it gets easier by the day, I promise. I'm on day 12 and every day is better than the last, honestly. Keep going, you will do it.
I've been smoking since I was about 16 and turned 30 last year so 14 years and about 20 a day. That's the first time I have really thought about how long i've smoked for - I can't believe it's been that long, I must be that old
I have had a few coughing up moments which i hate and think I will struggle to deal with loads more, am not good at expelling that from my body - yuck but will have to get over it.

The crap that you cough up is a great visual sign that you are doing something good for your body. Much better out than in.
I to have a bad day at about now but had an early night and the following day i was back to full strenth and ready to kick those cravings out of my head.
Try to keep in mind all the reasons you are doing this, also read all the links as they will help re educate you, and have definately helped most people on here get through the bad days.
Good luck and post often as that will help keep you busy
Sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish; as long as you always remember why you're putting yourself through it all in the first place. The feeling of a healthier body and lifestyle will far outweigh all the turmoil you may be going through now.
Drinking water is working wonders for me, it purges the body of all those sh!tty chemicals and toxins you've been poisoning it with over the years.
As BibleBlack said, take it one day at a time. It's a marathon, not a sprint!
