This morning wasn't too bad to be honest, although i'm used to the feelings i'm going through this time i know what to expect and how to deal with it all i have to do is keep dealing with it, i know that in another day the nicotine will have lost it's grip on my system so the second day is kind of like no mans land.
I'm over day 1, but still have a long way to go to day 3, but i said it last time and i'll say it again,
thank you - all of you old and new - it's your kind words and inspiring stories that keep me going.
This is it! in a few months i will be able to smell the freshly blossomed flowers of spring and wander through the streets with the sweet aroma of freshly cut summer grass on my way to the pub for a nice cold (and by then, tasty) pint followed by... well, probably another pint and a kebab =)
Good luck to all of you today no matter how far along you are

You too and remember when your taste of smell comes back you will be able to smell all those nasty smokers in the street - surprising how disgusting it does smell. Keep up the good work - day 3 will soon be here and then the nasty nicotine will be out of your system.
hello all. know jimi i did send a message but of course being me i sent it to the wrong thread lol.

I'M DETERMAND TO QUIT ONCE AND FOR ALL
what metherd you all using?. im using a patch, but it's making me arm itch!!! i did go cold turkey, but im weak couldnt handle it  lol.
hey Kika,
As you know from real life, i'm going Cold Turkey I have in the past tried to use the patches but they made my arm really sore and i couldn't sleep properly wearing the 24hour patch (probably because i don't smoke in my sleep!) they gave me nightmares!
I also tried the Nicorette Inhalator once and nearly choked to death! then i tried the gum and it felt like having a throat full of ash, i was glad to continue smoking after that!
So this is the time i will give up that foul weed once and for all, CT is the only way for me but it's got me through one day, it will get me through many more.

Oh I completely forgot about spring and summer... how much sweeter will it be for us this year! Nice cold pint... in the pub garden... it's like a home away from home haha... not too sure about the kebab though
You've got it right, there, you have to keep dealing with it, or it'll keep bugging you and you'll crack. Stay strong! Day three is looking alright from where I am
Hello Kika, and welcome. If you think you're too weak to use willpower alone, then as well as using NRT (whichever method you settle on), you should definitely stick around here for support.
Something else which I'm finding pretty helpful is the NHS Together program. They've sent me a little wallchart to follow my progress over the first month, a load of brochures with valuable information like what happens to your body when smoking and after you quit, some tips on dealing with cravings etc. It's much of the same really, but the best thing is they'll send you a text every so often to encourage you and spur you along. Best of all, it's free!
You said also that you nearly cracked but didn't light up? If you have a pack of fags lying around 'just in case'... DITCH THEM! CUT THEM UP! THROW THEM IN THE RIVER. If that temptation is always there, then you're never going to get anywhere.
