...handed to me today.
(Sorry, but I knew it would get you to read this true story - and it is true)
A "mate" of mine - Amanda - decided it would be funny to try and get me to smoke this morning..
Picture the scene, 6am at work - in the smoking area. Lots of people smoking, me with my coffee just chatting to people.
"do you want one?"
"no, thanks"
"really? I bet you do"
"no, I really don't"
"of course you do"
"No, honestly - I don't"
"If I gave you a lit fag you would smoke it!"
With which, she hands me a freshly lit cigarette.
*Stuart looks at the cigarette*
"I wonder how it would taste?"
"Believe me, Stu - it would taste great, specially with a coffee early in the morning"
"OK, I believe you"
*Stuart places cigarette IN Amanda's coffee*
The look on her face was very amusing. :D
Oh yes, and the leg has eased to the point where I can bear to be at work - albeit still on crutches. Happy to be out and about again though!

Well done mate, I read the title and guessed that it was "bait" but had to check none the less.
Good to know that you really don't want one, and that was a very Phil-esque method of dealing with the situation.

Nicely dealt with Stuart,
Little acid tests like that really enforce the quit i think, and in the process you got to turn the tables on someone who is obviously envious of how far you have came.
You now know she wont make you the same offer again.....you beat two demons with the one stone
Must admit i did wonder at the thread heading and then seen your name against it. Was ready to give you a tirade of abuse !!

The best thing about it was that, even while looking at a lit cigarette and holding it in my hand... I didn't want it.
I didn't find it disgusting either. I didn't have a sudden feeling that I had to fight.
I genuinely didn't feel anything.
Except a sudden and irresistable urge to have a laugh and put it in her coffee!

I also thought "oh no", but I would have lurvvvvvvvvvved to have been a fly on the wall just to see the look on her face.
Well done Stu.
