Hey Guys just thought I'd tell you a bit about the way Im stopping smoking I've tried loads of times to no avail but just started using an electronic cigarette and it seems to be doin the trick. It looks like a normal fag you smoke it the same and it creates smoke the same the end lights up when you inhale. Although the companies that sell them don't sell them as quit smoking aids I've found it to be really helpful the cartridges in them contain just flavouring and nicotine so you don't get all the bad chemicals. I was a 40 a day man now im down to just 2 fags and the electronic cig in between times. The other cool thing is that you can smoke the ecig anywhere legally in bars clubs etc and they work out less than half the price of fags to smoke. The cheapest place I found to buy them is I bought my whole starter kit for just over 18 quid some sites are sellin the kits for 60-70 quid + which are exactly the same ecig. Anyway just wondered if any of you guys had ever tried them and if so have they worked for you?

Strange first post if you ask me. I strongly suspect this to be SPAM

However, if I'm wrong maybe you could tell us a little more about yourself.

what

SPAM ??? What are you on about im a graphic designer have been for 5 years, as for strange post whats so strange about trying to talk about quiting smoking on a quit smoking forum. It's sad to think that people have to read more into things when somebody is merely exchanging advise.

You'll be aware that Spamming is a big problem for forums and this forum is not any different.

The part that mainly raises concerns with me is the following:

"The cheapest place I found to buy them is ecigforsale I bought my whole starter kit for just over 18 quid some sites are sellin the kits for 60-70 quid + which are exactly the same ecig."

I agree that it is sad that people do read more into things. It's equally sad that spamming exists. I'm also sure that you will be aware of that and if so you'll be aware that a first post containing a hyperlink to a commercial organisation is going to raise suspicion. Just my tuppence worth. If you aren't spamming then maybe you could introduce yourself in more appropriate terms.

Hi there,

When you registered you will have had to click that you agree to the terms of use of the forum.

Which includes,

Advertising or promoting specific product is not allowed in the forum. You are allowed to discuss your quit method but not allowed to post links to website for the purpose of advertising or promotion.

The way this is interpreted by the moderators is that commercial websites such as the one you quote are for the purpose of advertising or promotion so it its quite likely that the link will be deleted once a moderator sees it.

That said at least one of out users is quitting with the E-cig, and if you wish to contribute to discussions with out promoting commercial websites I'm sure you will be warmly welcomed.

Regards

Nic

To be honest I joined this forum to chat with other smokers not to be told that I am Spamming. Im most certainly not committing any spamming offence what so ever . I'm just sharing my experience of quiting smoking with other smoker's and there is no law that states that you cannot share details such as where you have bought something from and for how much for with other internet users in a internet forum such as this!

What do you mean by introduce myself in a more appropriate way?

Please re-read my post, its in the rules of this forum. Sorry if you are offended but its just that we get loads of people trying to promote their wares on here so there is a blanket ban on all posting of commercial links.

I understand your point it just saddens me that the comments that I made have been made to look supsect. What happened to freedom of speach ? Maybe smoking forums aren't for me i am a member of many other forums un related to smoking and have never had this experience before where people have taken offence in such a way.

Since I'm the one you are having concerns with then firstly if you are 100% legit please accept my unreserved apologies if you have found my posts to be offensive to you.

But, I do feel that you are labouring this too much. If you are a member of a lot of forums then you will be aware of forum etiquette. You also will be aware that the written word can sometime be misconstrued with the intent possibly lost to the reader. Although you will also be aware that in my first post to you that I did include a comment that I may have taken your post wrongly. At this point I draw your attention back to my first paragraph in this post.

i am a member of other forums too and there is ALWAYS someone that gets offended.

if you are for real then welcome - and well done for trying to quit. also if your for real you wont mind removing the link you posted in the OP (as it will later be removed anyway when the mods wake up)

what other methods have you tried in the past?

I would like to remind members that posting links to commercial sites are classed as spam and by joining the forum you have agreed to abide by the NSD rules

All links to commercial sites will always be removed and in most cases the user be given a permanent ban

Many thanks

Welcome to the forum. :)

You'll find that a lot of members have different ways that they are quitting the dreaded nicotene. However, it does seem that adding the education method to your own preferred method of quitting helps to understand what our bodies are going through whilst quitting. Some members display hyperlinks in their sigs which will help you in understanding that process.

I personally went CT nearly 11 months ago. Congrats on starting your quit :)

ecigs just make it alot easier they are cheaper than smoking and patches which is a great help at the moment plus they are alot more like normal smoking but like i said in my first post, shop about a bit because some places are selling them for like 60 odd quid and i only paid just over 18 quid for mine. A good place to look is the big online auction site which i wont name for fear of upsetting people but im all sure u know the one i mean. Just type in electronic cigarettes and you will see the deals u should be able to buy a kit on there for around the 18 quid mark probably best to buy one from a spe******t ecig seller on there with a proper shop though cause a mate of mine bought one of an individual for 30 quid now he can't get any cartridges for it so a waste of money. Before any smart arses ask no I don't work for the big auction site im on about and this is defo not spamming. lol

doing it for me

I am also an e cig user and to me they are excellent. Im not full time using them, i dont esomke at work although i could but i have used them to totally break the normal smoking habit. I quit for good five weeks ago and with the help of my ecig to get through dificult times i know i will never smoke again. It is strange because sometimes i feel as if i am cheating because i now get the same pleasure that i had from normal fags but wihout the .... etc etc.

My plan is to get in to the new year using my ecig whenever necessary and then cut this out slowly.

Funnily enough I still suffered the withdrawal symptons such as mad dreams and waking before dawn and have also had a new burst of energy and feel my health is improving no end and taste food i never did before etc .

I would not recommend ecigs and i admire anyone who went CT full stop. Whatever works for you i guess is good - i am so pleased to be free of the filthy habit i had for so many years.

Just thought id have my say
