How's all my fat friends doing?

Time is slipping by but i find myself missing the weed....................I actually think I want a cigarette. I dont crave one at all but i want one.

I think it's ridiculous as i have gone this far but have no theory or explanation.

Anyone else got the same?

Miss you all too.................

Gary

That is exactly how I have been feeling - for well over two weeks now , it keeps coming and going BUT, sadly it seems to come more then it goes - guess we just have to keep being strong. My guess is (and I hope i'm wrong) that having smoked for so long I am always going to have these feelings

regards

KB

I have been quit for 4 Months, 6 Days, 12 hours, 39 minutes and 3 seconds (127 days). I have saved £1,406.87 by not smoking 6,376 cigarettes. I have saved 3 Weeks, 1 Day, 3 hours and 20 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 06/02/2008 21:17

Oh yes - been wanting a cig all week. Going on hols to Magaluf on Saturday, goodness knows what I'll be like then. Haven't caved though. I think that inhalator will be getting some stick next week.

I too had this strange sensation and i am almost 4 months into my quit.

I think maybe that once we get over the initial stages of the quit, we start to take it for granted and the "edge" comes off our concentration etc.

Because of this, almost complacent, attitude to our quits, the thoughts start to sneak up on us again. Its just another test of the many we will probably face in our first year or so of quitting.

Most of us have probably smoked for 10, 20 and even 30 or more years. It will surely take more than just a few short months to wipe away all of the triggers and memories we used to have re smoking.:)

Definitely makes sense captain.:D

You guys, pls don't cave in.

Jan, I hope you have a great holiday but pls try hard to not smoke any cigs. I look to you guys as great encouragement and if you have read AC, then I can only say that the part where AC explains about a smoker 'leaving the sinking ship' and the rest of the smokers being left feeling vulnerable and 'unsure', well, thats how I kinda feel a lil when people on here slip.

We all need to remind each other just how well we're doing and that we are doing something that IS worth while. I know exactly where you're all coming from because I too have felt like it. I've only just come out of such a phase so pls hang on.

Its just something we 'used to do' and as others have said, its going to take a while to completely move on from our smoking lives.

Anyways, we're all doing great and beating this nasty thing! Well done us :)

i do think thats spot on!

i keep focusing on when i get to 5month, as i have read that it gets a bit better (for some reason)! not long to go but its very hard at the mo.

Jan, we both need to keep a hold of our quits, we cant let team 10 down!!

What's the point of having you if I cant abuse you?.......porky. :p

I'm kinda back, as a voyeur mostly but cant resist the banter.

Lets hope it does improve as it seems all us non-smokers are suffering the same pangs. I guess i knew the answer really, just needed confirmation from others.

Anyhow........."special k" diet, do they do one for your size people? Are they jumbo flakes and bowls?

Hi Jude - no intention of letting team 10 down but as you say it is very hard at the min. I hope your right about it getting better when we get to 5 months. I'm usually at home when I want one so I just go to bed as I have never allowed smoking in the bedroom. The feeling soon passes.

Hello Garystrying

Judging by your comments it sounds like you have put on a bit of weight when you stopped smoking.:(

Do you find that your fingers are too podgy to press the keys on your keyboard? :)

I have heard many others have that problem when they stop smoking.

I was very fortunate in that that did not happen to me.:)

Miss you all too.................:rolleyes:Hi Gary, l quit on the same day as you and for the last few weeks, l have also felt like a cigarette. It seems absolutely stupid, after all this time, to feel like this. The only thing that l can think of is, now that it is Summer, we are doing things that we only do at this time of the year. For example, after doing a bit of weeding, l WANT a cigarette, after eating an icecream, l WANT a cigarette, after lighting the barbeque, l WANT a cigarette, when i'm waiting for the coals to burn through, l WANT a cigarette, when i'm sitting outside with a bowl of olives and a gin & tonic, l WANT a cigarette. I've come to the conclusion, that l have not got out of the habit yet, of doing Summery things and having a cigarette after. Do you think that this could be the reason that we are feeling like this?

HIYA GARY!!!!!! (*waves furiously)

Been missing you LOADS, Burgerboy (Joke!!!!:D)

Seriously, when I "fancy" a cigarette, I think it through. The big question is not "Do I want a puff / just one cigarette?" but rather, "Do I want to go back to where I was smoking 20 a day with all the "joy" that brings?????"

It's a no-brainer fatty, have another bun instead! :) (and stick around ok?)

...I hope you're right about it getting better when we get to 5 months....

I hate to be the voice of doom and all that but very few quits are alike.

I'm over 7 months now and still have to give myself a severe talking to every now and again. Thing is, it's not because a fancy a fag any more than last week but that my resolve is less strong.

I can't even blame old Nic these days, he's well gone.

Just to repeat what others have said, you can't eradicate years and years of smoking habits with a few month's abstinence so constant vigilance is essential.

I don't hold with this day 3 is tough, month 4 is easy type of thing i just reckon each hour / day / week / month varies based on your own state of mind at the time....

:)

I posted a few weeks ago as I find the idea of fighting these thoughts of wanting a cigarette forever - somewhat depressing. I get them at trigger times brought about by anger mainly - and I am hit hardest when the triggers relates to moments experienced for the first time since quitting (like other have said).

I came to the conclusion that I have to accept that there is no miracle cure and that I am unlikely to wake up one day a "never smoker"...Whilst the quit time may make the smoking redundant and less likely, I will always be at risk of turning back into an addict. So the one day at a time it is for me still...oh well...

Wow been nodding head like chuchill dog reading all these posts.

Thought it was just me having these mad cravings for the last couple of weeks!

Haven't really used my inhalourer much but boy it has had a right battering. Have cut my chewing gum down chewing airwaves in between and haven't given in as not sure who said it now, but the thought of one puff versus smoking 20 a day thats what keeps me away.

Anyway glad the forum is up and running now, I really missed it ( I should get out more).

Hi Della,

I took Champix for 9 weeks so I've been CT for a wee while now. I still get the "notion" for a ciggie, but it is really just a fleeting thought, and easily dismissed. Have you read AC or visited any of the sites in my signature? I honestly believe reading and understanding the whole nicotine thing is what's kept me stopped this time.

I have been quit for 3 Months, 3 Weeks, 3 Days, 23 hours, 49 minutes and 8 seconds (116 days). I have saved £584.95 by not smoking 2,339 cigarettes. I have saved 1 Week, 1 Day, 2 hours and 55 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 17/02/2008 22:00

I've been wanting a cig so badly for over a week now, not all the time it just pops up in my head that I really really want one. I've not gone out tonight, OH has gone and I'm sat here with a beer wanting a cig. Feel so much better knowing it's not just me.

Good luck all
