You know the way that evil nic tries to give you reasons to give in, well I've recently been thinking that I may as well quit as the stress I will feel on the day will make me smoke anyway and I would be as well as starting my quit when my test is over.
I know that this is silly though and I am fighting it. I guess I'll be a lot happier and confident going into my test knowing that I've been off the weed for 2 weeks. Or at least thats what I am tring to tell myself...
DAMN YOU EVIL NIC

Awww Please don't end your quit now Bobby. I too had a helluva day yesterday. I swear to god it was just awful...by FAR the hardest as yet.
I had this lil battle going on in my head that I may as well quit when my head feels 'right' about quitting...but as Annasmummy said, it was just the evil nic playing his dirty tricks to try and get me to smoke. This is what is happening to you now, too.
Don't let it win!! Beat it. I'm telling you, if I got through yesterday (don't ask me how!) and didn't smoke, there is hope yet!
You can beat this, just come on here and moan moan moan if you need to. There are plenty of us here to help
Bobby - don't give in now! It's the evil nicotine that is playing with your mind. I had terrible days for day 4 and 5 and was ready to throw the towel in countless times. Just keep strong and don't let it win!
Maddy's right - if you think your resolve is weakening - get in here quick and talk it out. It really helped me on Friday night.
Forgot to add...this time, it is your driving test that is threatening your quit (good luck for the test btw! Let me know how it goes), but what is it going to be next time?
There will always be 'something' that will test your quit be it the driving test or something else. Unless you are a rarity and life is completely plain sailing for you!
Just try not to feel so alone in your quit. You are not. We are all here too
Maddy - couldn't agree with you more. I used to spend countless times thinking "oh I can't give up now because I've got that streeful meeting coming up, or I'll give up after I've been to that party as everyone else will be smoking, or I'll wait till next week or the week after"
I actually bought my patches 2 months ago - just think if I had actually not kept putting it off I would be 2 months further down the line by now!
Think of it this way. On the 26th of March you've got your driving test, and we all know it's a very very stressful day, we,re all agreed with that. So, there will be hundreds or thousands of people taking their test that day up and down the country. What about the people who are taking their tests who are not smokers, will they suddenly start smoking for the day to relieve them of the stress ? No. If by the time you've got your driving test you would have stopped smoking for 2 weeks then you would be past the physical addiction stage.
After 2 weeks it's just our brain telling you that you would be much better off having a fag, but you won't be. I'm no scientist and this is not exact but picture a scale of 1 to 10, our normal serotonin levels are approx around 5, of course this goes up and down on a daily basis depending on what is happening in our lives. When you have a cigarette it falsely pushes it up to 7 or 8, sometimes 9, but after you've had a cigarette is pushes it right down to 2 or 3, then how do you get the serotinin levels back up ? have another fag, and the cycle goes on and on, this is why cigarettes are so addictive. So my point is, yes you'll be stressed on the day but after you've had a fag, your levels will be even lower than if you hadn't had one, if that makes sense
I have been quit for 4 Days, 10 hours, 58 minutes and 20 seconds (4 days). I have saved £18.37 by not smoking 133 cigarettes. I have saved 11 hours and 5 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 12/03/2008 00:00
I am not prepared to fail and your encouragement helps me greatly.
Although this is just a 'forum' essentially, it could be the reason we all have another 10+ years on this planet...
..... and a great 10+ years they shall be too
Agreed. For sure. I know I would have failed my quit by now if it wasn't for the people on this forum. It was only by hanging on to the thought of everyone else on here that I managed to hold on somehow yesterday. This place is playing a big part in my quit.
Awwwww!! Well done Bobby! So pleased to hear that. Great feeling isn't it to pass your test at last? Now, you have more reason to stay off cigs! You're gonna need a car are you not? Oh, and fuel to run it Woo hoo! Money spent on a car...money on fags...money spent on car...money on fags...hmmm No contest is there?!
To answer your question Maddy, I am very lucky in that the company I work for has a pool car (VW Passat Automatic) which I can use to get to and from work as well as local journeys.
