Has anyone else found some unexpected benefits since stopping? I was looking forward to smelling better, feeling healthier, etc - but there have been other advantages that I didn't really think of before. Hangovers are now definitely less evil than they used to be! I now have colour in my cheeks for the first time in about 15 years so I no longer have people asking me if I feel ok everyday. I'm also starting (slow process) to feel a bit more confident about other things - if I can do this (and I can, and have!) then it gives me a bit more belief in myself that I can do other things. Also I didn't realise how much more time I would have - I didn't spend that much time smoking as such but I spent most of the evening having to shower 3 times to try and get rid of the smell which was really time-consuming.
Anything else people didn't expect but are now appreciating?

Absolutely!
Not having to clear my throat a million times in the morning.
Not having my other half moan at me (as much!).
Like you having so much more uninterrupted time to do things.
Better concentration at work as not thinking about when am I going to have my next ciggie.
I think I get more kisses - certainly when we're out which used to be the only time I used to smoke around my OH. It's great not to worry about whether I've smoked, whether I've had 3 packs of chewing gum... if I want a big snog now I just go for it.

I found that I suffered from hangovers more! I think that when I drink, I drink faster as I'm not smoking anymore. I have had 3 killer hangovers since I quit compared with none I was getting before. Because of this and because of other reasons I have not been drinking much since November and haven't touched a drop since New Years Eve. I've told people that I'm detoxing when they ask why I'm not drinking. I just don't want to at the moment.
It is good that my pillow doesn't smell like smoke after a night out and that my throat doesn't feel like it's been through a cheese grater after 20 fags.
