Hello everyone. Well, I'm really here just looking for some people who can understand what I am going through.
Today is my 7th day of not smoking with Chantix (apparently the US version of Champix?). I have been having a difficult night, and even approached my landlord wanting to ask her for a cig! BUT Thankfully, she knew what I was up to and offered me a carrot instead! I just had a 2 hour long craving which hasn't happened yet. It's passed now, but it was REALLY awful for awhile!
I can only hope things get easier over time....

Hi there!! I am sorry you are having one of those nasty days. It does get better. You are on day 7 and I guess no one has told you that day 7 or 8 is one of the hardest days. Unfortunatley this is a day when the craves are really really bad. Hang in there as you are almost through this day and you will be feeling better tomorrow. I feel so horrible for you, i have been right where you are.
Your landlord was very helpful to you even though you are thinking "no he/she wasn't" really they were and you will be happy to have had a carrot instead of a cig tomorrow. Be proud of yourself for not caving in. Tomorrow is a new day and you will be feeling great!
Keep busy - you can do it. Have a nice hot bath, read a book and have an early night. Good luck and oohhhhh yeahhhhh YOU ARE AMAZING FOR MAKING IT TO 7 DAYS!!!!!!! Keep going superstar!

hi heidi,
well done on your quit!! hang in there and be strong!! you'll get there, and it does get easier....honest.
i found it pretty easy with the champix! when i look back now.its as if i've NEVER smoked! (it's like i've just forgot about it:confused i only took the tablets for 6 weeks, i've still got 6 weeks tablets left! just don't feel the need to take them anymore.
i just know......that i won't ever go back to smoking now.i just feel sooooo positive when i think about it
wish i felt the same about dieting! thats the only negative thing, gaining some weight,i know when the time is right for me i will get stuck in properly and lose some.
i hope you stick at it and get through!!
you will, with the champix and all the support of everyone on here.
I hope when you read this you're still smoke free. It's always been day 5 for me in previous quits that I get a mare of a day. Don't think it's always going to be like this. Every so often you will get a bad day, but hopefully not too often. If I was having a bad time of it I'd give up and go to bed early to sleep it off knowing that tomorrow would be another day. Generally things will get easier though with each week that passes. Try and keep yourself busy at all times for the first few weeks with absorbing tasks. Painting walls, spring cleaning, sorting out your cupboards absolutely anything to take your mind off Nic and make time pass quickly.
I'm just past month 5 now and no longer get any symptoms. In fact I only visit here now for the social contact because there are some very good people here. You'll find quite a lot of "Lifers" here which is testament to the success of the forum and the support that you'll get here.
