Thanks everyone, its still hard to believe he has gone, it was such a shock to everyone. He never had a warning or anything, he had been out drinking with friends and whilst waiting for the taxi home he collapsed and although his friends tried to resussitate him he was DOA. The Coroner said that it was coronary heart disease and the most likely reason was smoking.

I think he would be proud to know I have quit.

That is terrifying. I have been a bit scared of this myself but I really did not believe... Your cousin only had a few years on me.

It is scary, I got my results back from my cholesterol test back and itd 5.1 which according to the doctor is ok, she said the best thing I could have done is quit smoking. She is monitoring me closely though because I'm bi-polar she doesn't want me sinking into depression!!

Ahhh! Thanks, Phils death has given me the wake up call I needed, I'm sad he's gone of course, but I'm not gonna get depressed about it, he wouldn't want me to, If I did then I would be letting him down.

I just try to remember when I feel it coming on that smoking will not solve any of my problems just add to them no matter how much it feels like having a cigarette NOW would make things bearable....

I realize some of the mild depression I have felt is based on Nicotine/smoking some is more likely based on my own personality. Either way smoking not helping in the long run.

wow, markyboi, ive just read ur posts now, and Im so sorry about your cousin, how awful for u and ur family!

Im sure that ur quitting would not only make ur cousin proud but your family as well, what a wonderful tribute to your cousin.
