Good morning all. Hope you are well. Going down the Docs in a little while to get my next presciption for the champix and to have a carbon test thingy.

In myself I feel great. The craves are fewer and fewer as each day passes . I think it was just a matter of gettin used to doing daily stuff without punctuating each event with a cig (like switching the kettle on and then having a cig while waiting for it to boil!) I'll post back about my test later on.Have a wonderful smoke-free day everyone!!:D

Carbon test?

Just out of curiousity what is this for? Do they do this test for everyone on champix?

I have now been a none smoker for:. 0Y 3W 0D 1H 42M 51S. I have not smoked: 210 Cigarettes. That a saving of £ 56.89. I will now live longer by: 0Y 0W 0D 16H 51M. Hi Mary,

The carbon test is for anyone quitting no matter what method is used. Buffy quit cold turkey and her nursey did the tests too.its a machine that you blow into that measures the amount of carbon in your blood. A normal non smkoer

reading is under five (taking into account environmental factors such as pollution,temperature etc) Anyway my reading when I was smoking was 22.

After being a non-smoker for 20 days i re-took the test and it is now only 2!! Cool eh?!:cool: Its a great way to encourage you to NOT SMOKE as you can actually see for yourself how much your health is improvroving in a short space of time Don't you have it over there?

That's great! I will have to ask my doctor, but i'm sure we do. The last time I was at the doc was Sept 28 cause I had bronchitus. I had decided that weekend I needed to quit for my health. I set my goal for Monday Oct.1 and here I am. I will ask next time I go. I am overdue for a well check anyway.

Your reading wil be normal too. It really makes you feel like what you are doing ie quitting cigs is having a real good impact on your health. Like you know that there IS 'light at the end of the tunnel' I think that if you are having a 'bad day'(especially in the early days of a quit) it can really be hard to keep going. Thoughts of "is it worth it really"? bounce around and no matter how much people say it'll get better soon you aren't totally convinced - so to have a reminder of the improvement youre making so soon after you've quit that you
