Day 20 and going strong

Day 20, there is no turning back now.

I do not need to take a "walk",

I do not need to pause a movie or series I am watching,

I do not need to run to the shop to buy a pack,

I do not need to sit outside in the cold to have a smoke,

I do not need to smoke when my sleep breaks in the middle of the friggin night,

I do not need to smoke after every single meal,

I do not need to count the amount of smokes I've had for the day,

I do not need to leave what I am doing to get a smoke,

I do not leave my wife sitting alone at a restaurant, as I go get a smoke,

I smell fresh everyday, all day long,

Surprisingly I have found so much more time during the day to get things done,

I can hold my son in my arms, and not worry about the smell,

I am saving a whole lot of money,

I am not dead and lethargic in the afternoons,

I feel fresh and my energy levels are way up,

I feel like a new man. I feel free, Smoking does not control me anymore. I do not need to listen to the dreadful nicotene drug. I am NOT a drug addict! I live my life on my own terms, I am strong and healthy.

Thanks guys.

I just needed to remind myself why I am doing this, and I felt writing it down helps so much more, especially when it is in a public forum, and maybe other people will look at it and help them out as well. :)

Please add on if you think of anything else.

No problem Kat.

I am just paying it back, when times are tough for me, there are many people on here that are all too willing to help me out. :)

That's a wonderful list of good things for quitting!!

So many people think they're missing out or giving up something nice but that brings it home that it's smokers who are missing out, not us :D

Yes Kat, This forum is fantastic. I don't think I would have made it so far without this place.

@Gemma, it's all those small things that we take for granted, and now that I am free, I can see what I have been missing out on for more than 16 years.

That's it exactly!!

What shocks me is that we either didn't notice all that we were missing out on, or just shrugged and accepted it - I did anyway - and didn't mind.

How could I have been so stupid?

But yes, we *are* free now and it's fab!!

We were blinded by the nicotine drug.
