Hi Smoke signal,
You have done so well to get this far, isn't it a great feeling?
You can't help but count the days and you go round telling everyone how many days it is since you quit, people probably think we are all mad to keep going on about how many days we have done but it is such a big thing to us.
We are very proud of our day counting coz it is a very hard thing that we are doing and we should be proud of ourselves!
We are all fantastic!
Keep on counting, the days do start to fly by,

How's Day 12 for you, hope your throat is a better today, and your cough. My friend reckons I sould just have another glass of wine if the cravings get to much, I tried to explain the wine is probably linked to the cravings but he just said, have more wine, once you pass out your won't notice your cravings. Not sure if this is the most helpfull advice, if I took that one up i'd probably have to log on the the AA site before too long.
Good Luck
Hello Smokesignal,
Hang in there. I don't drink anymore, however In my younger years I used to be big beer drinker. I used to party about 4 nights a week so I had a "strong" association with Beer and Cigarettes, they seemed to go hand in hand.
When I quit smoking for that attempt (5 months 16 days) I did not wish to stay at home and do nothing while my friends all went out and partied, so I did this instead. I chose to drink whiskey instead of beer. Since I "never" drank anything but beer before I did not have an association with the whiskey and it helped me get through the first month of still going to the bars and not smoking.
After about a month I was able to start drinking beers again without fear that they would cause me to start smoking again.
I know this all sounds rediculous, but it did work for me
