Made it to month 4

Hello everyone,

Have officially not smoked for a quarter of a year (3 months).

Just got back for holiday at Center Parcs Sherwood forest and have been quite amazed at how easy it has been. Had a few drinkies on holiday and have got to a point where I don't even think about smoking when drinking. I got quite merry on the last evening and didn't even think about it. It might of helped that only 1 of our group smoked and he hardly went out for a smoke cos he was on his own. Even if I was tempted and badgerd him for a smoke, he wasn't going to give me 1.

but..........suprisingly!

Doing abit of housework yesterday and came down the stairs and thought 'I'll treat myself to a cigarette now'.......whoops!

I don't think it was a craving. I was planning to treat myself to a can of cola when having a break but my brain got confused and made me think cigarette. Strange how the brain can still play tricks on you even 3 months down the line.

Hope everyone else is still fighting the good fight!

Barney

hiya barney its great to hear from u and that u are still going strong.

i quit on the 29th june so we are around the same point of quitting.

i know what u mean about "nic" still playing tricks and that scenario with the housework is something which still happens to me often, it goes to show that although our bodies are ridded of nicotine that smoking has a huge mental addiction too which is what can make this oh so hard.

But are doing great barney, and managing to drink with no smokes?, wow, that is a hurdle i am still overcoming, as i cant quite crack it yet, inhibitions are down and i find i cant help myself. ive had two slips and both were drink related, so well done you!

Stay strong barney, we are fighting the good fight, and winning!

charlene. :D

Well done Barney.

We are also now 3 months off the weed:)

Wish i was like you and not getting the cravings while drinking.

Drinking is still the hardest time for us (only drink once a week normally so tolerable, just about). All in the mind probably, but always seem to feel that a cig with the Stella and wine would be rather yummy:o Like cheese and biscuits or strawberries and cream...

Know it would not but the little nicotine devil still pleads to be satisfied.

Keep it up Barney.:)

Way to go Barney. Give yourself that pat on the back your doing great. You know the longer I go as a non-smoker the more it stinks off of the smokers I come in contact with. Some people ofcourse are more rank then others and I really think perfume and the smell of smoke is awful. I still love the smell of a lit ciggy though but when it goes out I'm history. Is anyone else really noticing this? All I know is I don't want to smell like that again..yukky. I refuse to smoke!!

Cheers!

Joe
