Day 3 - so far so good

Well I've made it to day 3, which so far is remarkably better than day 2 was! I spent yesterday in a highly agitated state, barely able to concentrate for longer than 2 minutes at a time. I went to the gym last night and it really helped.

I'm using patches and I wore one yesterday and put another one on this morning. By the time I got to work I felt so dreadful (lightheaded, hot, sick) that I took it off. They were the strongest patches and I think they are too strong for me as I cut right down before giving up. Going to try cold turkey, and keep a weaker patch in my bag for if times get hard.

Feeling generally positive today, with occasional anxiety moments when I think about the long haul. My new mantra is going to be 'one day at a time...one day at a time...!'

I am slightly worried though as I'm going out for dinner tonight which has all the triggers for me, social, wine, food...

By the way - does anyone else's mind play games with them? I spent the whole day yesterday feeling stressed. Then my mind would flood with relief as I realised that all I needed was a cigarette and I would go back to normal, before realising, doh!, that's exactly what I can't have!

Well done Cass, you're getting the hardest few days behind you!!

I still have the occasional mind game with myself, but after nearly 4 weeks cold turkey, i know how awful a cigarette would taste. They already smell disgusting when i can smell it on other people!!

Think of the mind games as a mental battle between yourself and the horrible little beast that is Nicotene, you can beat the little bugger, though he does scream alot and make a huge fuss before he gives up and goes away!!!

Stay strong!!:D

Errrggghhhhh yes that is awful isn't it >_<

As with the day by day or even hour by hour!!

could you try and replace that need for a cig that your not allowed, with something else that you are allowed!!? like a walk.

'ahhhh feeleing stressed ergh oh i know i can go for a walk!' then potter off, try and tell your mind that doing something positive will work!!??

Or do I just sound mad

That's actually a fab idea. Do something positive instead. Slightly worries I migth then spend all day at work wandering off talking to people, but the sacrifices we make eh!

Well done,

Yes its hard graft the first week eating sleeping and socializing without a cig, im having sleepless nights tossing & turning, getting up hours before time, feeling hungry and keeping away from friends who do smoke.

However, life still goes on and we need to get through this together smoke free

Look at the video, on help to stop section, what it does, will help you.

Keep positive and good luck with going out for dinner :)
