Day 3 on 3rd attempt

Hi there,

New to this forum, was using a different one but they've shut down until 5th July and as using these was very helpful last time, being without it can be like being on cold turkey itself. I'm not on cold turkey as tried many times before and never got past 1 day.

Am using 24hr patches which I have used on my last 2 most successful quits (lasted 6 months last time).

Get the odd habit creep up sometimes for a split second (time for a fa...oh yes! of course, I don't smoke anymore) which I soon forget about. Have also had a stinking cold which has put my mind off smoking.

My relapses have always occured after my course of patches has finished. Down the pub, had a few drinks, the urge becomes too much to bear:eek:

Maybe this smoking ban will help alittle bit (obviously not when I'm at a private party)

My new plan of action is that I've written a note to put in my wallet that tells me why I quit and how selfish it would be of me to have a puff. Sober me telling off drunk me. Don't know if it will work but gotta give it a try.

Sorry, tend to rabbit on abit!;)

Hello Barney x x x

Welcome to the site x x albeit we're second best hmmpf

Love the note idea! very jeckyl lol! (makes note to self, to make a note to self about not smoking when pissed !)

Just be sure you follow the entire course of patches! I failed before getting cocky and rushing it

My other successful quit ended up like yours, alcoholic haze of believing it's ok to social smoke rofl twitt!

I love the ban in the sense that the temptation is gone from the pub, that will help me loads, like you say it's when it's all back to the house afterwards or parties >_< I don't think i will get caught out again though, much older and wiser even when drunk lol

Don't apologise for rabbiting on :D thats my job :D hehehehe

You'll fit in fine here and the support is second to none, great bunch of peeps here right behind you x x Keep it up and well done ~Buffy x

Hello Buffy! Thanks for your support. I thought I recognise you from that other forum. Only managed to post one thing on there before they shut it down, so thought I'd come here instead. They are a lifeline.

I am very determined to do it this time! just got to remember that it only takes one puff to go back and that I can't be a social smoker, I'd only be kidding myself.

Also been trying to scare myself. Been looking at the stuff on whyquit.com even though I knew the effects of smoking before and it never made me quit.

Want to beat this before its too late.:)

Hmmm

Don't think I joined the other forum  unless it was a long time ago lol

Indeed the social smoke thing is something to be learned, usually the hard way too >_< I can honestly say hand on heart I really believe I won't go back this time, of course I can never say never am not a fortune teller!

How far along the quit are you now? The cold thing is so common i have always had that along with most of the people here!! it's your body finally being allowed to rid itself of all that crap you've been building up in there!

Look after yourself you deserve it :D ~Buffy x

Sorry Buffy! must be a buffy wannabe on the other site.

i did actually develop the cold before I quit as my son and wife have had it aswell but was still lighting up all the way until I went to bed on Saturday night. I would have to be really desperate i.e. cold turkey to want to light up while I'm unwell which I did as a smoker. I chose 1st July as my quit date as it seemed the logical with the smoking ban to make a fresh start.

hehe these wannabes' eh :D

July the 1st :) yes many have chosen to go with the ban lol

Love seeing those hunched up figures with brollys outside the pub who aren't as clever as you x x

Yes this sodding weather, I have had a cold as has my youngest this week bloody july , my arse >_< hehehe

More chance of seeing a dingy floating down the street than that supposed 102 degree summer they promised us before!

Liz,

Aw thanks x x x x it's the thought that counts :D medal gracefully received thank you :o hehehe

Thanks Barb.

I normally smoked roll-ups, so I didn't spend as much as people who smoked tailor mades. If you go to

dedicateddesigns.com/qk/dow...

and download the Quitkeeper onto your computer, it will tell you your statistics based on how many you smoked in a day and how much you paid for a packet of cigarettes. See my stats so far.Obviously not saved loads of money on mine as smoked roll ups.

2 Days, 19 hours, 30 minutes and 4 seconds. I have been quit for 2 Days, 19 hours, 30 minutes and 4 seconds (2 days). I have saved £5.20 by not smoking 42 cigarettes. I have saved 3 hours and 30 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 01/07/2007 00:00
