Hello everybody, welcome to another wonderful Monday morning
So i have been a smoker for 30yrs 30 a day and have tried several times to quit but have been unsuccesful using various nrt. This time i am using patches with varencline and reading allen carrs book.
I am on day four and really chuffed with myself managing 4 days without a cigarette, i have had the odd pang but nothing to drastic. I decided to stop on thursday but i was so fearfull of not having any tobacco around but resisted temptation to buy some but it hasnt been as bad as i thought, i had visions of climbing the walls but it hasnt been that bad i had read on the forums that day three can be trying but i was ok yesterday. I now i have a long way to go but i am determined to suceed this time. All the best to everyone else who are going through the process of riding yourself of this horrible addiction

well done so far, smoking 30 a day for 30 years must make a difficult task very difficult indeed, so take 1 day at a time and congratulate yourself regularly
i find just reading other peoples posts on here has helped me a lot. it really makes you feel you arent on your own
thankyou muzzy and buffy for your support and encouraging words. where do you two stand in the giving up plan how are coping. i assume that you must be further along/or stopped completely.
Buffy i notice that you post a lot and your posts i find very helpful and informative you seem like an expert.
Is your user name taken from one of my favourite tv show
I am glad you have found some of my many posts helpful, albeit most of them are me rabbiting on about anything and everything hehe
My real name is Elizabeth, from age 2 when i started talking I would say 'lilly-Buff' so my family always called me Buff which got softened to Buffy. Growing up the only Buffy ever known was Buffy saint marie ~ a singer.
People always had to ask me over again 'Sorry what did you say your name was?' I have been called biff, bath, bus and even buzz! (never been called Elizabeth except for officials) until That show came out, now everyone knows the name! lol I haven't ever watched it myself but the kids used to. I should really make a point of watching it sometime
You could buy a Buffy DVD to watch as a treat x x x x
i find that reading about all the " rabbiting about anything and everything" helps take my mind of the smoking.
as for spending the money ive saved from not smoking i had to buy a new mp3 player for the gym as my old one died this morning  i need my mp3 when i go to the gym.
The suggestion about buying buffy dvds is good idea but i already have them all.
Be very careful, varencline is new and is not tested with NRT.Some Doctors, like mine still will not give prescription untill it has been out longer. It blocks nicotine,so you are defeating the object,as well as taking a combination that is possibly dangerous

im on day 8 of a healthier lifestyle, still have the occasional "god i need a fag moment" today has been quite tough.
im determined to give up, i think you have to be to succeed. if your heart and mind arent in it 100% then it really isnt worth starting something you wont finish.
day 4 is a great achievement for a 30 a dayer, im very impressed
thank you for your concerns, i have been taking the varencline for about 18 days and using the patches for 5 days i have had no side affects so far but i get your point i am frightened that if i take the patches off i might start smoking again.
