Thanks Buffy.

I know what you mean about Tescos. As it is across the road its very convenient.

I do feel calm at the moment. To be honest i enjoy smoking but i need to give up for health reasons. I`m diabetic. Also my first Grandchild is due in 4 weeks.

Strange thing has happened. I talked myself into thinking that at the end of every night i would have just one fag to satisfy my cravings thinking one a day is better than 20 , but every night( 3 nights) when it come to it i couldn`t do it. Strange.

Good morning,

Hi Barb6374 looks like we've both made it to Day 4 and a new section of the forum (4 - 7 days), big pat on the back for both of us I think.

Its odd but I found Day 2 trickier than Day 1, Day 3 quite bad in the end and so far today I am feeling very very normal.

I actually knew someone who gave up by cutting down. He'd allocate a time say 12 noon for the first week, and smoke only after 12 noon. Then for each following week he'd push the time back by a couple of hours. Eventually he got to the stage where he was having a ciggy at 10 pm at night and then going straight to bed. One night he just turned around and said to himself whats the point of smoking anymore.

Now I have tried that as a technique and it didn't work for me. I have also managed to stop for a month and after a month it was easy for me to say no. I had one ciggy through choice and it was game over.

Although there are different ways of stopping smoking, I personally think cutting down isn't one of them. In my mind you have made the right choice by not having one before going to bed.

Oh well, onward and upward, back to work (Grumble Complain!!!).

Well done

Day four seems so far away to me but I'm not packing in until 2moro. Today been doing lots of research on the net and found this booklet - hope it helps. whyquit.com/joel/ntap.pdf

Different strokes for different folks and all that, I would find self discipline very hard to just smoke so many at a certain time! I would struggle like that.

One cig is worse than 20 in my eyes as it just keeps the waiting and craving feelings carrying on forever!!

Well done again guys x x

3 days of pain and walking into a smoke free lifesytle. Bring on the pain when I stop 2moro morning. Your doing brilliant Barb.

I don't know whether I'm nervous, anxious or excited all I do know that is 2moro I will not smoke. Usually get up and have a coffee and cigarette at my computer. 2moro, the first day of the rest of my life, I'm up washing my hair to get rid of the horrible cigarette smell then I'm going to go on a long walk. Changing my whole routine - may even tidy the house - ok maybe that is going a bit far ha ha

First few days will be awful as I will be fasting at same time (not recommended for everyone but I have fasted many times so I'm used to it). Every single pain I feel, I will know it is just the toxins leaving my body - it will be difficult but I know a week from today after stopping smoking and fasting I'm gona be one different little lady :)

As of Thursday 14th of June I will be a non smoker! BRING IT ON!!!!!!!
