Do you know THE BRIAN CURTIS STORY?
The photo is shocking but sad too. When you see a photo like that, you have a very good reason to stop smoking!

I am nearly in tears
This article and photo, has brought back dreadful memories of my dad who also lost his life to lung cancer 3 years ago, I had battled for those three years to get the image of my dad when he was dying out of my head, I wanted to remember my dad how he was, big strong and well dad like...
Like Brian he went downhill quickly after diagnosis, even though the year before he had cycled what was like his '7th' London to Brigton bikeride.
I however continued to smoke (until 9.00am) last Sunday, I am now on my fith day and keep telling myself this is why I am giving up I do not want my daughter to have to go through what my brothers and I have watching a parent die prematurely.
I thank you for this posting because all I was doing was blocking out what happened to my father, I need to be able to remember what he looked like when he was ill, to remind me why I am doing this, and I am also strong enough now to also be able to remember my dad the way he looked before this terrible smoke induced disease took a toll on his body.
I also know that my dad is looking down on me and rooting for me!
For my Dad Norman Alan Bruce, who went to live with the Angels aged only 58 years of age. x
I'm so sorry about your dad!
I wish you all de courage to quit.
Keep us informed!
Best luck!
PS: Sorry about my english!
Looked at that and that's definately going to stick in my head, don't think I've ever seen anything like that before, poor man. Got the cogs turning about my dad now, I wish he'd give up smoking because I know I will have to go through seeing this myself at some point- at least i'll know what to expect now -makes you want to cry doesn't it.
Your dad
Hi Booya,
I know it's horrible but maybe you could ask your dad to look at the picture? My Dad looked like Brian did, it was awful, maybe it would make your Dad think twice....who knows, all I know is that we should be proud at what we are doing, becoming non smokers for life! x
Eeps... I haaaate Smoookes
Thats freaky. Very glad that i am not smoking anything again today. Yep, freaky. I don't want to end up like that at all. Not a way to go out. I feel bad for anyone that has to go through this with a loved one. Hugs everyone,
Vike

I have just sat quietly at my office desk looking at all these links you posted Viking and I feel scared.
I have smoked for 30 years and stopped for 2 months almost - I just hope that I have quit in time - I wish I have never started. I hope I haven't done irrepairable damage.
these are extreme cases, a lot of poeople dont' ever have a problem...
You did the best thing you could ever do by quitting. You have already decreased your chances of getting anything terrible happening to you. There is a good possibility that all quitting will do for you is extend your life NOt bad when you think about that, eh. keep up the quit, don't be scared, you did the best thing by quitting.

I agree
If it wasn't for this site, i'd probably gave up by now. So many inspirational stories. You all keep me on the right track. I signed up for other sites, even one from my own country, but they all seem very unpersonal... this one is where i will stay.

12 Months Today
Hi all.....aint gonna look at any pics.........12 months to the day since my Step Father William Brennan (Aged 72) died of lung cancer. To close 2 home for me.
Good luck all!.......Choose fags or life but be carefull looking at the condition others get in by smoking and vowing to give up. If you fail to quit it will only put more pressure on you and that will make you stressed and then you will want another fag.......possibly!
Quit for yourself.......not for others. We can all quit if we want to!
Hello!
Mildred, I hope that you continue free from smoke.
Booyaa, viking, rubymiller, Geordietrucker thanks for your replys and visits.
I wish you all a good weekend!
