I currently live in the US and had a kidney transplant in Dec 2020. I’m on belatacept and Myfortic currently. Bela because I developed a reaction to tacrolimus. I’m likely to move to Singapore next year this time and am told Bela is not available there.
if any of you or anyone you know is in the same situation and living there, would love to know what a possible solution could be if both tac and Bela are not an option.
Apparently it is in the same class as tacrolimus. Therefore my nephrologist won’t prescribe it. I guess I’m looking for someone who has a similar problem of allergy to tacrolimus and consequently have to use Bela. Thanks Lisa.
Hi Sara_Raj - I took tac and MMF for over 7 years. I was finally switched to Bela - Sirolimus - pred, due to issues tac was causing with my heart racing. This regimen was the first try/first choice for me upon getting off of tac. Cyclosporine with MMF would be the next med regimen they would try, but so far so good on Bela. Cyclosporine and Tacrolimus are both CNIs. Sirolimus (also known as Rapamune) is an MTor inhibitor and works differently than a CNI. Everlimus is another one, so hopefully you’ll have some options with your planned move. Best wishes, D
